We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Vivian Yu: Hello, everyone! I’m Vivian Yu, the heart and soul behind Gym Near Me. If you visualize a common gym or an average fitness trainer that just speaks of reps and sets.
However, my path throughout the fitness realm was anything but traditional. I always saw fitness as a unification of thinking, physicality, and nutrition- all intertwined in near-perfect unity.
We’ve abandoned the old-fashioned one-size-fits-all approach at Gym Near Me. Our facilities are tailored to meet your specific health needs, providing a definition for you where there is an understanding of what it takes for most people like yourself to get healthy.
However, we do not end there. We delve into the very nature of holistic health unraveling our understanding of nutrition guidance and attention to mental wellbeing lacing them with diverse fitness programs. Why? So we generally believe in nurturing strength from within our self also.
Our mantra is simple: If someone asks me what the greatest recipe for success, physical health, and mental well-being defines it, nourish your spirit by bringing out who you truly are, push yourself past boundaries that hold without being unreasonable about them to become something even greater than expected from such person’s talent potentials.
Hence, suppose you’re fed up with the same mundane drills and seeking an environment that celebrates your global equilibrium. Let us discuss it!
I’m not here to reinvent the wheel (or write another fitness book), but to entertain and maybe throw out a couple of unexpected tips that probably aren’t covered in your average weighty manual. Let us define being fit differently.
Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, are an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle to keep talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued, and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are you adapting to the current shift we see?
Vivian Yu: At Gym Near Me, we recognize that the core of employee satisfaction lies in feeling valued, heard, and connected to their work’s purpose. To turn the tide of trends such as quiet quitting and The Great Resignation, we have introduced a couple of core approaches to keep our team motivated and satisfied.
At the core of our methodology, is encouraging workers to speak freely on what they are thinking and how best would they like things done, which we achieve by providing regular open forums in all possible locations that enable them to diversify their minds both within a fixed time framework.
We also emphasize on providing recognition to all individual contributions in tangible form and publicly, as we know the value of appreciation in establishing an effective motivated team.
Keeping pace with the modern workplace and bearing in mind the importance of work-life balance, we introduced a bit more flexibility to our working environment – schedules that are flexible enough for needs can be adjusted on demand as well as remote work options.
With the support of our initiatives to foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive company culture that goes beyond being just an employment destination but rather becoming part of an indivisible community goal, Gym Near Me aspires for this flexibility.
We believe that by targeting these domains we can provide an environment where people not only are satisfied but also commit themselves fully to their jobs resulting in personal and corporate development.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Vivian Yu: The book that influenced me is “The New Psychology of Success by Carol S Dweck”. It’s a study of how our worldview toward failure and growth dictates the way we live. Dweck explains the fixed and growth mindsets, changing my attitude to challenges.
I learned to see failure as something that would lead me on the path of growth but not one fearing and considering it an end in themselves focusing instead, on effort at learning persistence over pure talent.
This philosophy has played a significant role in how I have created Gym Near Me, teaching me the truth of resilience and its crucial nature, we must always remain curious alongside perseverance. As for the most gifted book, I would choose “The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle”.
This guide to spiritual enlightenment is practically revolutionary and has many deep things about staying abreast and how to become more prepared for the present. Its teachings on mindfulness, acceptance, and letting go of unhelpful thought patterns touch me very deeply and I often recommend it to someone in need of God’s message.
“The Power of Now” encourages deep transformations in the way you see things and offers a path to a more complete life; thus, this is the gift I would like all friends or loved ones to get.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Vivian Yu: The primary challenge facing businesses today is navigating constant change and uncertainty. The current age is one of fast technological progress and dynamic consumer needs; agility, thus becomes a must to succeed.
Establishing an online connection, however, is a challenge unlike any other; the mediational process of communication technology both promotes and undermines interpersonal involvement at once.
This is a challenge that businesses must work hard to overcome by building genuine relationships within their teams and with customers.
In addition, the sustainability and social responsibility sphere has become redundant, hence keeping abreast with what matters the most is inevitable. As environmental and social concerns become more prevalent, companies are facing pressure to ensure that their businesses have a high ethical integrity as well as be sustainable.
This includes, among other things the minimization of environmental footprint but also promoting diversity equity and inclusion.
To meet these challenges businesses must continue with the process of adapting and do it fast, stick to some true relationships, but maintain their responsibility for sustainability as a whole.
The ability to embrace change while staying true to their core cause allows organizations to face challenges head-on and turn them into opportunities for growth.
In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Vivian Yu: One of the most underestimated aspects of running a company is the importance of building and nurturing a strong company culture. It’s not only about giving free candies and ping-pong tables, what is more important is that one feels valued, and respected in his work procedure.
A case in point is my first attempt to start Gym Near Me. Initially, I mainly paid attention to the business marketing strategies, budget plans, and so on.
However, I soon realized that none of this could make much difference without a solid company culture. Therefore, in the beginning, I made a deliberate attempt to focus on creating an environment of positivity and inclusion.
This entailed investing time in building personal relationships with my teammates, asking them for their feedback and ideas actively, and finding ways to make the work environment fun.
Consequently, our Gym Near Me community is a tight-knit one in which everyone feels like they belong to something greater than them. This sense of belonging has not only improved our mood and efficiency but also helped us overcome challenges collaboratively.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Vivian Yu: If I find a business superpower, then my choice would be the power to figure out and predict customer needs intuitively. This power would change the course of Gym Near Me operations, enabling us to refine our offerings at levels that make it possible for them always to beat customer expectations.
These would include customized gym routines as well as the provision of unique workout classes that have specific appeal to our members, thus enhancing deeper allegiance and loyalty.
Furthermore, this superpower would give us the ability to stay ahead of market trends by anticipating changes in consumer preferences and responding accordingly.
The novel approach of responding to situational demands proactively rather than reacting would allow us to innovate and create unique products or services that establish our brand as a leader in the health, and wellness sector.
In the end, possessing this superpower would allow Gym Near Me to deliver truly game-changing experiences for our members that drive even deeper levels of satisfaction, retention, and success.
By embracing the knowledge of our customer’s hopes and dreams, we would be able to develop further in an effort that could ensure being on top as far as industry leadership is concerned while positively impacting member’s lives.
