Thank you for accepting my interview invitation! I’d love to know how you ended up becoming an entrepreneur? Tell me your story.
Tony Ajaero: I began my career in business by working in my father’s modest firm, where I refined my abilities and learned what it takes to run a successful company. Working with my father sparked an interest in business in me.
Tell our readers what your company does differently than your peers and why that difference is so important to your audience?
Tony Ajaero: I own several businesses, but let’s concentrate on Profitable Venture. The whole point is to assist prospective entrepreneurs in turning any concept or plan into a viable business, therefore I provide materials that can assist them in doing so more quickly and for free. The majority of platforms don’t do this.
Running a business, your’s or on behalf of someone requires great leadership skills. What are some of the biggest challenges you faced as you took on a leader’s role and what did you learn?
Tony Ajaero: My biggest challenge was my fear of public speaking, whether it’s speaking to a large audience or a few individuals. As a business leader it was important that I exude confidence in order for my employees and other stakeholders to have confidence in me. So I acknowledged my fear and took time to overcome it. Sure enough, I no longer fear speaking publicly. This taught me that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Success is not an accident. What are some routines and habits you learned to master that contributed to your current success?
Tony Ajaero: As a business owner, I’ve found that pausing to reflect is quite beneficial. Every entrepreneur has a definite goal in mind. Reflection is beneficial since it allows you to track your progress and determine what you need to do to improve. Reflecting on a monthly basis is something I enjoy doing. I review my journal to see what I’ve accomplished and what I haven’t. This essentially allows me to keep my finger on the pulse in my businesses.
Can you share with us defining moments in your journey, please give us details and stories to illustrate?
Tony Ajaero: That would have to be when I tried to get into network marketing, and failed. Network marketing demands more of your time than it does money, and I lacked both. Perhaps it was owing to the modest initial investment in starting cash. I thought I had other enterprises in which I had already invested a significant amount of money, so I didn’t devote the time and attention to my network marketing business that it deserved, and this is where my failure began. However, it was from this failure that I gained my most valuable lessons, which have helped me succeed in my other business efforts.
What are the five things you wish someone had told you before you became an entrepreneur?
Tony Ajaero: I’d say:
- That I’d have to work hard in the right direction: Hard work means nothing if you don’t have a strategic direction.
- I have to believe in myself no matter what: without this, I’d have achieved nothing. My failures could have easily devoured me if I lacked self-belief.
- Persistence is king: entrepreneurship is hard and you have to fight for what you want and it takes persistence to win a fight.
- Team work is important: You can’t always be a solo player because you don’t know everything.
- Be prepared for sleepless nights: This cannot be overstated. The beginning of the entrepreneurial journey is probably the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life
Oftentimes we hear: “Your network is your net worth”, please share your thoughts on that adage and illustrate your experience.
Tony Ajaero: It’s absolutely true. You need different people who bring out different sides to you. For example, in my circle there’s someone that I consider as the thought leader of the group. This person has assisted me in gaining a fresh perspective on my business concepts. They don’t have to be in the same industry as you, as long as they can inspire you with challenging questions and novel ideas. This individual will not only push you forward, they can also guide you in the proper direction. In the same breath, you need someone who’s financially savvy etc. You can’t be an island.
What are some professional or even personal goals you plan on tackling during the 2022 year? Share the battles you expect to face.
Tony Ajaero: I want a better work-life balance. Making money is great but the other important things in life such as friends and family and this year I really hope to make more time for the latter. It won’t be easy because work will always be there but I’ll have to find a way around it.
With all the social media platforms available, it’s increasingly difficult to be present everywhere. Which ones do you favor for your company and why?
Tony Ajaero: I like Facebook and Instagram because they’re easy to use and engaging with people through the comments is easy. The option to start a live and chat to people in real time is also an amazing feature of these platforms.
