We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Tim Eggebraaten: Having worked in the Criminal Justice field for nearly 28 years, I’m an expert at working the beat. I started my career as a correctional officer in 1989 and became a police officer in 1992.
Along the way, I held many positions, including Chief of Police. When I left law enforcement in 2016, I was excited to accept the role of “Off Duty Chief,” allowing me to take my experiences, message, music, and talent to the streets and right here to this very room.
I’m a sought-after national speaker who is a gifted storyteller with a powerful and witty perspective on balance, growth, leadership, and life.
I’ve spent many years traveling across the country, performing as a one-man band. Now, I use my love and gift of music to reinforce my message and help others, like you, find their “rhythm” in life. Be prepared, as I’ll take you on a roller coaster of emotions, from light-hearted stories to profound examples of loss and mental health.
I share my home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, with my wife, Denise, where we enjoy the outdoors, friendships, and each other.
In the past year, what is the greatest business achievement you’d like to celebrate with your team? Please share the details of that success.
Tim Eggebraaten: I am thrilled to announce the release of my book, “Find Your Beat.” I have been working on it for seven years, and it is a dream come true to be able to hold it in my hands and hear the impact it’s making on others!
A positive side effect of having a published book on my speaking business has been added exposure to people around the world who may not have known about my keynote presentation.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Tim Eggebraaten: Surround yourself with high-quality people who will challenge and support you. As Q2 begins, I plan on implementing a new system of processes to help me be more efficient with my time as I’m working on my business.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Tim Eggebraaten: The book that influenced me the most is probably “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl. The main lesson I learned from it was that nobody can control my inner thoughts. I can control my attitude and feelings.
I have gifted my own book, “Find Your Beat” the most. Not only because I wrote it but also because I believe in the power words can have to help people believe that “They Are, They Can, and They WILL.” I want to share that energy with others.
Christopher Hitchens, an American journalist, is quoted as saying that “everyone has a book in them” Have you written a book? If so, please share with us details about it. If you haven’t, what book would you like to write and how would you like it to benefit the readers?
Tim Eggebraaten: I recently completed my first book, “Find Your Beat.” Here’s the description of the book from my Author Page:

In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Tim Eggebraaten: I am a solopreneur, so the most underestimated part of running my company is time freedom. I am regularly “working” on my business, but none of it feels like labor!
I came from a career in law enforcement, so many of the “stressors” my fellow business owners experience as they work in their business don’t feel like stressors to me relative to what I was experiencing as a police officer.
What does “success” in 2024 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Tim Eggebraaten: “Success” means continuing to grow my speaking business – to reach more audiences and share my positive, unique, and powerful message. I love to travel, so it is a bonus when I share my message on the road.
Spending time with my family is important, so creating a business that generates income while still allowing for a balance of quality family time is critical.
