We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Macy Schuchart: Hi, My name is Macy. I am really inspired by ancient wisdom, the natural healing process of the body, and the nutrition nature provides through fruits, vegetables and herbs. This had led me to launch an organic herbal supplement company called Ancient Bliss.
I have always been interested in and highly fascinated by the natural healing process of the body. I am a big fan of supplements, and as I was looking to find a brand that fit my highly strict requirements, I found that a lot of supplement brands (especially on amazon) weren’t very connected to their products. This inspired me to make my own brand so I could know exactly what I was consuming. I also wanted to incorporate organic and alkaline herbs, which were hard to find on the market at the time.
2020 and 2021 threw a lot of curve balls into business on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past couple years, how can businesses thrive in 2022? What lessons have you learned?
Macy Schuchart: The number one lesson I learned is to take it one day at a time. With selling on amazon, almost every day there is a new problem. The best thing is to take each problem day by day and to not stress. Even when things have gotten really bad or i’ve had low moments, when I step back and reflect I know that they have always have gotten better. Taking problems a day at a time and not getting too attached to them allows me to problem-solve and not get burnt out by stress. Keeping a positive mindset is key.
How has the pandemic changed your industry and how have you adapted?
Macy Schuchart: The pandemic has honestly been great for my industry. Although I started towards the end of it, there has never been a better time to launch a wellness product. I think with the pandemic people are starting to pay more attention to their health and want to seek out more natural alternatives. The pandemic has also grown e-commerce business overall. Each year more people are looking online to fulfill their needs which creates a great opportunity for growth.
Online business surged higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for 2022?
Macy Schuchart: I’m excited. I believe in divine timing and I don’t think there has been a better time to grow as an e-commerce business. I am looking forward to growing Ancient Bliss and generating more customers online.
How many hours a day do you spend in front of a screen?
Macy Schuchart: Probably like 7 or 8 haha.. definitely too much. But that’s just how it is with e-commerce businesses. I try to go for walks, cooks, do yoga and take breaks in between. I can’t really sit for more than 30 minutes.
The majority of executives use stories to persuade and communicate in the workplace. Can you share with our readers examples of how you implement that in your business to communicate effectively with your team?
Macy Schuchart: Something unique about my business is I don’t have a team, it’s just myself. But I do outsource my work (as when it comes down to it I really don’t know how to code or do graphic designs, or mostly anything involving technology or business really) I work with many different people in other countries on a platform where we have different gigs going – so I consider them my team. (I mean I couldn’t have done it without them)
The best advice for effective communication is to be kind and to show genuine appreciation. Positive reinforcement and connection with others will take one way further than being mean. I have also learned though to be very upfront and stern in my vision. Although we have great relationships I let them know exactly what I want and how I want it to be done. 🙂
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as the real challenge right now?
Macy Schuchart: Most of the challenges i’ve faced were associated with self-doubt. I overcame these by doing inner-work and constantly fueling myself with people who would inspire me and lift me up. Patience is a big part of building a business from the ground up, and mindset is key. By keeping a positive mindset it is easier to stay consistent. I did this by visualizing and focusing on the outcome, not on “what currently was” The best way to do this is to train the brain to only visualize a successful outcome, and leave no room from “What ifs” or worst case scenarios. By going all in and believing in yourself, you leave no option but to succeed.
In 2022, what are you most interested in learning about? Crypto, NFTs, online marketing, or any other skill sets? Please share your motivations.
Macy Schuchart: I’ve been really interested in learning about the psychology of consumerism. I want to learn what needs people have and how I can best fulfill those needs. Also, to continue my education on natural herbs and how they can help different ailments in the body, and of course ?(non business related) very excited for the future of crypto! I know it’ll go back up and be huge and the next couple of years.
A record 4.4 million Americans left their jobs in September in 2021, accelerating a trend that has become known as the Great Resignation. 47% of people plan to leave their job during 2022. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. Do you think leaders see the data and think “that’s not me – I’m not that boss they don’t want to work for? What changes do you think need to happen?
Macy Schuchart: Its funny you say that because I left my job in October 2021. I think. a lot of people are coming to the realization that they don’t want to sell their time for money. Money that they are still getting taxed heavily on. With inflation and a rise in taxes/costs of goods, majority of jobs aren’t secure anymore.
Its as simple as this: people are being overworked and underpaid. Working a 9-5 is outdated, its too many hours to maintain proper mental and physical health in most people, and it’s also not effecient. Especially once you start piling on outside work responsibilities and the stress people carry from their jobs. We need to minimize time and stress in the workplace and most people deserve to be paid more. I also think there is a lack of financial education not only in youth but in adults. If people felt more secure, less stressed, and like they weren’t living at their job than I think it would be a great direction towards solving this issue.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Macy Schuchart: Could my superpower be getting inside the customers head? Haha, because that has to be the best one. If I could see what customers thought/how they felt about my products I would be able to fill their needs to a T!
What does “success” in 2022 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Macy Schuchart: Success to me means believing in yourself. And not just kind of, but like fully believing. I think success is the ability to feel that you are able to turn your visions into reality. We all have manifesting powers, and we are all here to create. But I think the goal is to believe so deeply that you can visibly start to see your manifestations turn into a reality. I think the more I watch myself do this, the more successful I become!
