We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: I spent most of my career building human resources departments and organizational cultures from scratch in various industries such as interior design, engineering, online brokerage, publishing, media, and telecommunications.
I quickly learned that no matter the industry, high-performing teams require exceptional leadership skills and great organizational cultures. At the core of every organization lies the secret ingredient: people.
Companies often say that people are their greatest asset, yet people strategies are often an afterthought and disjointed from the overall business strategy. My passion stems from this realization. Cultura, Inc. is an organization dedicated to building exceptional leadership skills in organizations committed to building great cultures.
If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: Our company is a dynamic organizational development group specializing in organizational design, leadership, and organizational development. We partner with businesses to unlock their full potential by optimizing their organizational design and structure, cultivating effective leadership skills, and fostering a continuous growth and adaptability culture.
Our unique approach combines cutting-edge research, actionable industry insights, and a strong focus on understanding each client’s unique needs and challenges. Our customized solutions empower organizations to adapt to evolving markets, drive performance, and drive sustainable growth in an ever-changing landscape.
Our company’s biggest strength lies in our team of industry experts who possess diverse experiences and skills. Their ability to quickly adapt and provide innovative solutions has earned us a reputation for excellence and has made us the go-to partner for businesses seeking transformational change.”
In a nutshell, we’re not just another HR consulting company – we’re a strategic partner dedicated to empowering businesses to thrive in the face of challenges and embrace future opportunities.
Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, are an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle keeping talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are adapting to the current shift we see?
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: In my experience, not only do employees want to feel seen and heard, but how they feel seen and heard varies from individual to individual. Employees don’t just want to feel happy, they want to feel fulfilled.
Developing people-centered practices helps organizations improve retention. The key is to develop customized holistic practices to meet individual company needs. Adapting to emerging trends is simple when you focus on people first.
After all, if they are our biggest asset, shouldn’t we embed their interests in all aspects of the business strategy? This also means adapting to the changing demographics and other aspects of culture.
Here is a two fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: Wow, this is a tough question because I am an avid reader, love books, and I feel like books influence me the most, depending on where I am. The book Think Again by Adam Grant forces you to question everything from your beliefs to your thoughts.
It is at the top of my list, along with Leading With Cultural Intelligence by David Livermore, because they represent the skills we need to relate better with others who think differently. The books I have gifted the most include Think Again by Adam Grant and Leading With Cultural Intelligence by David Livermore.
Another personal favorite that I often gift is High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard because it profoundly affected how I approach a life beyond goals.
Christopher Hitchens, an American journalist, is quoted as saying that “everyone has a book in them” Have you written a book? If so, please share with us details about it. If you haven’t, what book would you like to write and how would you like it to benefit the readers?
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: My first book is about to publish this fall: Becoming The Change: The Power of Cultural Intelligence. I wrote the book because I wanted to share how cultural intelligence skills and strategies changed the way I view my personal biases.
About five years ago, I learned I was hurting others through microaggressions which were both devastating and empowering. It forced me to look in the mirror and confront my biases head-on. Since then, I committed to educating others on cultural intelligence and exposing the story to bring awareness to others.
2020, 2021, 2022 threw a lot of curve balls into businesses on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past years, how can businesses thrive in 2023? What lessons have you learned and what advice would you share?
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: The biggest lesson for me reinforces my leadership philosophy: Focus on your people, and your business will flourish. Adapt and overcome with your people in tow.
The last three years have taught us that we cannot lose sight of our people when conducting business. It doesn’t require a major budget to do so. It just requires authentic leadership.
What does “success” in the year to come mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Loren Rosario – Maldonado: Success on a personal level means continuing to build meaningful connections, publishing my book, and continuing my doctoral studies.
On a business level, it means expanding on a global scale. Combined, these form the catalyst for a #lifefullylived. All is well as long as I live, love, and matter, all is well.
