We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Jackie Jackson: Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, as a first-generation American born to immigrant parents, I was the quintessential latchkey kid. I was raised in a single-parent household with my mother who often held multiple jobs to make ends meet. No matter my family’s financial struggles, my mother always emphasized the highest value in education. In my family, education held the keys to freedom, independence, and financial success. I can still hear my mother’s advice “Go to school, get good grades, and get a good job”.
Embracing the power of education, I pursued advanced degrees in fields that ignited my passion for personal development, mindset growth, and business.
From a very young age, I knew that I would influence the world in a big way. In fact, as a child, I dreamt of being an entertainer or performer of sorts. And, how did my passion for performance shape my career choice? Well, sales of course! Being a sales professional helped me develop skills that supported my innate desire to connect with people on a deeper level as an entrepreneur. However, my journey to entrepreneurship was not always easy.
At age 19, I became pregnant and was left to raise my son as a single mother. Determined to create a better life, I worked full-time to provide for my son while attending college classes at night and on the weekends. Through hard work and perseverance, I graduated from York College C.U.N.Y and obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
I leveraged my education to launch a career in sales and marketing. From there, I transitioned into lending and banking where I obtained multiple professional licenses. I quickly excelled and was soon earning six figures in the corporate world as a vice president branch manager.
However, I felt unfulfilled. I RESENTED the daily grind of my “safe” corporate job that my parents said was the “right” thing to do. I was working more than 60-70 hours per week, away from home and more importantly away from my son. That is when I decided to take a leap of faith into entrepreneurship in order to buy my time back.
My first experience in entrepreneurship resulted in a very expensive Ph.D. in “What not to Do”. Because I worked in banking and lending, I thought I knew everything I needed to know to be a real estate investor. Well, that was so far from reality that I incurred a 6-figure loss on my very first deal.
It was like I was applying the rules of basketball to the game of soccer. Imagine, a single mom who was already in debt, trying to work her way out of debt, who creates more debt for herself. You can imagine, this was a painful time in my life because It actually bankrupted me.
Learning from my losses, I knew there were key pieces to investing and entrepreneurship that I was missing. I knew I needed help, but how and who? This is when I decided to take a leap of faith to invest in an untraditional education with a mentor. But there was only one problem, I had no money to pay for a mentor.
In 2010, I joined the United States Army Reserves because they offered a $10,000 bonus if was able to complete their rigorous physical training. Upon successful completion of boot camp, I planned on using my earned bonus to pay for my mentor’s time. I needed that money like I needed air.
From humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of empowerment, my journey has been one of perseverance and resilience. Today, I am a self-made entrepreneur, speaker, and author who teaches people how to achieve financial prosperity through faith, alignment with God, and real estate
I founded Prosperity Life, LLC to teach wealth and prosperity principles. I’ve authored books, created online courses, spoken at conferences, and built a vast network through social media. My story of rising above poverty and overcoming losses resonates with people.
Today, Prosperity Life, LLC., is a thriving multimedia online education company dedicated to spreading the message of wealth creation and abundance. I find deep fulfillment in using my gifts to help others achieve financial prosperity.
I believe understanding God’s purpose for prosperity in one’s life while working towards a vision and never giving up can help overcome adversity. I am passionate about living a prosperous life and I love motivating others to do the same. I am grateful for the blessings I now enjoy and aim to give back through my business.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Jackie Jackson: Here are three pieces of advice I wish I had received when starting out, and how I intend to improve my business in the next quarter:
- Focus on solving a real problem for people. Don’t just pursue ideas because they seem clever or fun. Target real pain points and needs in the market. Always keep your customers at the center.
- Start building your network early. Connect with fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, potential partners, and customers right away. Those relationships will become invaluable. Attend events, ask for introductions, and share what you’re working on.
- Don’t underestimate the power of marketing. The best product or service needs effective marketing to get traction. Study growth strategies, content marketing, and social media – invest time and money into reaching your audience. It’s not a “if you build it, they will come” world.
How I intend to improve my business in the next quarter:
- Automate and boost efficiency with Artificial Intelligence productivity tools. Tools like email services, project management software, and payment systems like PlatPay are imperative to business success.
- Collect feedback from customers and use it to improve key processes.
- Create accountability structures like quarterly planning sessions and revenue goals. Review metrics regularly.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Jackie Jackson: The book that influenced me the most in my life is the Bible. The Bible provided me with a framework for spiritual, mental, and tactical principles that enable prosperity guided by purpose and faith. The Bible encourages positive thinking.
Many verses urge readers to believe in and visualize the abundant blessings God wants to provide them. This adoption of a prosperity mindset is a foundational key to success regardless of a person’s religious beliefs or whether they decide to be an entrepreneur or an intrapreneur.
Biblical principles also guided my financial behaviors. Lessons on working efficiently, managing debt, saving, generosity, and stewardship gave me practical wisdom for money management.
Scriptures teach that material wealth should be shared, not hoarded. Giving to others and funding worthy causes brings meaning and spiritual rewards to prosperity. The text instructs people to use wealth righteously. Financial blessings are seen as gifts from God to cherish.
Wealth is not just for personal benefit but to do good work and support worthy causes in our communities. The Bible warns against loving money above God or being consumed by greed. Righteous values govern our prosperity. The Bible says all good things come from the Lord. This fosters an attitude of gratitude for financial prosperity and an authentic wealth experience.
The book that I have gifted the most is “You Can Love God and Drive a Bently!: A Prosperity Guide Straight from the Bible” authored by myself in 2019. I share this book because every person has the power to grow a successful business, have amazing accomplishments, and live a rich spiritual life.
To do so, one must be bold, step out on faith, and confidently implement the steps to obtain their wealth. The book helps people to free themselves and tap into their greatest wealth potential, by first understanding how the power to acquire wealth is granted.
Christopher Hitchens, an American journalist, is quoted as saying that “everyone has a book in them” Have you written a book? If so, please share with us details about it. If you haven’t, what book would you like to write and how would you like it to benefit the readers?
Jackie Jackson: “You Can Love God and Drive a Bentley!: A Prosperity Guide Straight From The Bible”, is a book I authored in 2019 right before the world pandemic. I wrote this book as a tribute to my discovery and revelation of the truth in God’s promises.
I thank God every day that He gave me the courage to write boldly, and be unafraid to praise Him publicly, with honor and glory. My writing is my talent, and through it, I have honored God.
The book is written from a woman’s perspective but is meant for everyone. I share insightfully how my journey to create wealth started, and what the catalyst was to its beginnings. “You Can Love God and Drive a Bentley!: A Prosperity Guide Straight From The Bible” is designed to help people discover biblical principles that can lead to both spiritual growth and financial abundance.
Each chapter delves into key teachings from the Bible, offering practical insights and actionable steps to enhance one’s relationship with God while achieving prosperity in all areas of their lives.
What I love most about the book is how it deepens your spiritual connection while achieving financial abundance. The book can be used to strengthen your faith and develop an abundance mindset while creating a personalized prosperity plan rooted in your faith. Challenges will come, but they can be overcome with confidence and resilience.
Readers will discover their life’s purpose and how it relates to wealth and service. Lastly, “You Can Love God and Drive a Bentley!: A Prosperity Guide Straight From The Bible” cultivates a legacy of generosity to make a positive impact on your community.
In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Jackie Jackson: In my opinion, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company is systematizing and documenting key processes so less depends on you as the founder.
The second most underestimated focus area is hiring team members to implement and execute innovative ideas through integration. A company can’t be good at everything, but it can strive to be the best at one major focus.
For example, at Prosperity Life, LLC our major focus is to help our customers redefine what it means to have an authentic wealth experience in their lives. We share our training via online courses, live and virtual events, books, and social media.
Behind the scenes, what makes our productivity machine run smoothly are the following:
- Focusing on daily procedures and documenting repetitive tasks with standard operating procedures.
- Hiring, managing, and retaining talented people.
- Bookkeeping/finance tracking – Monitoring cash flow, paperwork, and accounting is less glamorous but critical.
- Sales process – It often takes longer and more work than expected to build a sales pipeline and bring in revenue.
- Marketing/brand building – Requires consistency and repetition to see results. Easy to underestimate the resources required here.
- Navigating complex and ever-changing laws, policies, permits, and licenses.
- Customer service/support – Time and infrastructure to properly onboard and support customers.
- Data analysis – Important insights live in the data but extracting them takes focused time.
- Self-care as a founder – Avoiding burnout, maintaining work-life balance.
In summary, the “iceberg” parts of running a business take constant care and feeding. They’re not exciting but definitely essential.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Jackie Jackson: If I could pick any superpower for business, it would be the ability to instantly understand customer needs, wants, and pain points in any scenario. I would use this in a few key ways:
- New Product Development – I could quickly validate potential product ideas by tapping into exactly what customers are looking for. This would allow me to launch offerings perfectly tailored to market demand.
- Marketing Messaging – By instantly understanding my audience’s motivations and problems, I could craft marketing copy and messaging that deeply resonates at an emotional level. This would supercharge conversion rates.
- Customer Service – My superpower would allow me to rapidly diagnose customer issues and provide solutions that delight them. I could resolve complaints instantly and turn them into loyal advocates.
- Sales Conversations – I would be able to guide prospects to the perfect products or services that improve their lives during sales discussions. This natural rapport and value would lead to faster deal closure.
- Leadership Insights – Knowing employees’ needs and desires would help me be a more empathetic, inspiring leader. I could motivate and connect my team around a shared vision.
- Product Improvements – Customer pain points around existing products would be transparent to me. I could continuously refine and upgrade our offerings to better serve users.
The ability to truly understand customers would give me an incredible advantage in any business. I would turn this insight into better products, services, and experiences.
