2021 and 2022 threw a lot of curve balls into business on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past couple years, how can businesses thrive in 2023? What lessons have you learned?
Daniel Ruscoe: Having faced the challenges, learned from mistakes and invested over 25 thousand from some of the best coaches, mentors, speakers and award-winning entrepreneurs across the world, I have learned more in the last 2 years than many in 10 years of business. The challenges of the past 2 years have encouraged me to invest in further coaching, despite being a coach myself which is my first lesson. To accelerate your growth and fast-track your success, learn from those doing better than you to help challenge you, keep you accountable and reduce the risk of mistakes.
Secondly, the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded people and being part of a business community that can help you push yourself further and take out the loneliness in business that many entrepreneurs experience.
Understanding the fundamentals of business including understanding your numbers, utilising marketing and having more conversations will all help you accelerate your growth, but without taking action, you will stand still. Being an action-taker is key to success and developing the skill to take action and test will help you grow faster above your competitors.
The pandemic seems to keep on disrupting the economy, what should businesses focus on in 2023? What advice would you share?
Daniel Ruscoe: Master your marketing by having more conversations with your market. Ensure you know who your market is, what their wants, needs and desire ate and master the right message to them so that they can resonate with your brand. By focusing on your target market you can utilise the power of marketing and the tools available to us like social media to have more conversations with customers. More conversations means more sales.
If you master your sales message to resonate with your customers you will stand out from the crowd and invest in the right marketing solutions to get laser-focused on your customers
How has the pandemic changed your industry and how have you adapted?
Daniel Ruscoe: More and more people are now shopping online and the world of e-commerce is booming. The pandemic has shown many people how powerful online shopping can be and given customers the ability to have more time going what is important to them whilst saving money.
This is a perfect opportunity for those wanting to expand into the e-commerce space or start a business from the comfort of their own home and that’s why at the Product master Academy we teach our clients to really understand this area, utilise the tools available to you and access the markets that are already booming like Amazon.
The pandemic has shown people the power of social media and how easy it is to get a message to your customers, therefore we ensure our clients utilise this area and teach them to use the power of social media as a marketing channel.
What advice do you wish you received when the pandemic started and what do you intend on improving in 2023?
Daniel Ruscoe: The pandemic was an event that could not predict how long it would take to recover and resolve, however, it has encouraged us as a business to expand into new areas of business and markets to safety net the income of the company which has enabled us to support our clients further having experiences the challenges of the pandemic.
Increasing efficiency and productivity through the use of technology, expanding into new markets, and adapting to changing consumer needs and preferences are all areas that we have developed whilst embedding this into our teaching and coaching programs for entrepreneurs.
Online business surged higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for 2023?
Daniel Ruscoe: Online business and the expansion of online sales are here to stay. Buyer touch point decision-making has changed and has enabled marketing on social media and through funnel marketing more desirable to entrepreneurs.
Technology and ensuring that your business is ready for the shift in e-commerce sales is paramount. More and more technology integrations are becoming available for business owners to increase their efficiencies whilst providing faster experiences for customers. Business owners need to move with this and ensure that their company is setup to utilise technology so they can spend more time on marketing and sales to accelerate their businesses.
How many hours a day do you spend in front of a screen?
Daniel Ruscoe: 6-8 hours a day.
The majority of executives use stories to persuade and communicate in the workplace. Can you share with our readers examples of how you implement that in your business to communicate effectively with your team?
Daniel Ruscoe: I have shared a personal anecdote/experience to illustrate the importance of a particular value, principle or problem we are trying to resolve. I have also used customer testimonials and case studies to show the journey our clients and customers have gone through to better understand who we are serving and get into the mind of the client.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as the real challenge right now?
Daniel Ruscoe: There is so much opportunity for people to ensure into business or expand in business but due to the ongoing financial situation around the world and the increased exposure of people’s difficulties in the media, many people/companies reduce spending on investment. Many businesses reduce their marketing in this situation which has a fundamental impact on the company’s abilities to grow, access their customer and limits access to conversations for sales.
Rather than looking at business inefficiencies and utilising technology to help growth, business owners often cut the fuel to their business (marketing) resulting in a downside.
In 2023, what are you most interested in learning about? Crypto, NFTs, online marketing, or any other skill sets? Please share your motivations.
Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino: Online marketing is huge and with new platforms growing such as TikTok etc, there is more opportunity for entrepreneurs and business owners to grow their companies.
Furthermore, AI integration is an exciting opportunity for us all to increase efficiencies. I would like to explore further how we can use AI to increase efficiencies in our business and provide better services to our clients and customers. I would also like to explore how we can get ahead of the curve on social media platforms to ever-changing algorithms and new platforms.
A record 4.4 million Americans left their jobs in September in 2021, accelerating a trend that has become known as the Great Resignation. 47% of people plan to leave their job during 2022. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. Do you think leaders see the data and think “that’s not me – I’m not that boss they don’t want to work for? What changes do you think need to happen?
Daniel Ruscoe: The pandemic has changed society and placed more value and importance on family and employees having time to enjoy social interaction, be with their family and build stronger relationships.
Health crises remind people of the impacts of ill health and the speed at which years go by. Leaders and business owners need to understand that there has been a shift in people’s mindsets from a career devoted to a lifestyle-focused, therefore, exploration of efficiencies in business and the ability for people to be more flexible in their working patterns should be explored.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Daniel Ruscoe: Write a Facebook ad that lands every single time. Facebook ads can be a money machine for your business and many business owners don’t spend enough time testing to land the ad that converts. If I could write Facebook ads that convert every single time it would reduce weeks of testing and become the money machine for clients and customers.
What does “success” in 2023 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Daniel Ruscoe: My success in 2022 has been becoming a multi-award-winning entrepreneur and scaling my kitchen and cleaning brand to award-winning status whilst launching the Product Master Academy to help others scale a product idea to a successful business.
In 2023 at the Product Master Academy, we aim to coach and teach a minimum of 100 entrepreneurs to take their product idea to award-winning brands and scale their businesses to have more time, financial success and enjoy what makes them happy in life.
