Christopher, you’ve built a successful career in business and community development. What drives you to maintain such a strong connection to the community?

Christopher Linton: For me, the community is the foundation of everything we do. Growing up in a small town in South Alabama, I learned early on that success isn’t just about individual achievement; it’s about lifting others up along the way. When I moved to Houston and started my business, I knew I wanted to stay connected to the community and contribute to its growth. It’s not just about giving back—it’s about being an active participant in the well-being of the place I call home.

You’ve often talked about the importance of mentorship. Can you share a specific moment when mentoring made a significant impact on someone’s life?

Christopher Linton: Absolutely. There was a young man I mentored through a local youth sports program. He was an incredible athlete but struggled academically and didn’t see a path forward after high school. Through our mentoring sessions, we worked on building his confidence not just on the field but in the classroom. Over time, he began to see the value of education and worked hard to improve his grades. Eventually, he earned a scholarship to play college football. Seeing him walk across the stage at his high school graduation was one of the proudest moments of my life. That experience reinforced the power of mentorship and how a little guidance can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

You’re known for balancing your business responsibilities with community involvement. How do you prioritize these different aspects of your life?

Christopher Linton: It all comes down to time management and setting clear priorities. I’ve always believed that you make time for what’s important. For me, that means making sure my business is running smoothly but also carving out time to be present in the community. I’ve learned to delegate effectively in my business, which allows me to focus on community initiatives without compromising my professional responsibilities. It’s about finding that balance and making sure neither side is neglected.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to start their own business while also being an active community leader?

Christopher Linton: My advice would be to start with a clear vision of what you want to achieve in both your business and your community. Understand that these two areas can and should complement each other. Your business can be a vehicle for positive change, and your community involvement can enrich your understanding of the market and the people you serve. Stay true to your values, be patient, and don’t be afraid to lean on others for support. Collaboration is key.

Houston has seen significant growth in recent years. How do you think businesses should adapt to this growth while staying true to their community roots?

Christopher Linton: Houston’s growth is exciting, but it also presents challenges. Businesses need to be adaptable, but they shouldn’t lose sight of their core values and the community that supported them from the beginning. It’s important to stay engaged with local organizations, understand the changing needs of the community, and be willing to evolve while still maintaining that connection to your roots. For example, at LoneStar Labor Management, we’ve expanded our services to meet the growing needs of the area, but we continue to prioritize our relationships with local partners and clients.

You’ve mentioned that sports have had a significant impact on your life. How do you think sports can play a role in shaping future leaders?

Christopher Linton: Sports teach so many valuable life skills—discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience. These are qualities that are essential for anyone looking to lead, whether it’s in business, the community, or any other area of life. When young people participate in sports, they learn how to work together towards a common goal, how to handle setbacks, and how to push themselves beyond their limits. These experiences are incredibly formative and can set the foundation for future leadership.

What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

Christopher Linton: One of the biggest challenges I faced was during the early years of starting LoneStar Labor Management. We were a small fish in a big pond, competing against larger, more established companies. It was daunting at times, but I knew we had something valuable to offer. I focused on building strong relationships, providing excellent service, and staying true to our mission. Over time, our reputation grew, and so did our client base. It was a lesson in perseverance and the importance of staying committed to your goals, even when the odds seem stacked against you.

In your opinion, what role should businesses play in addressing social issues within their communities?

Christopher Linton: Businesses have a tremendous responsibility when it comes to addressing social issues. They have the resources, the influence, and the platform to make a real difference. It’s not enough to just operate within a community; businesses need to be active participants in making that community better. Whether it’s through charitable contributions, volunteer efforts, or advocating for policies that benefit the community, businesses should always be looking for ways to contribute positively.

What’s a common misconception people have about being a business leader and community advocate?

Christopher Linton: A common misconception is that these roles are separate or that you have to choose between being a successful business leader or a community advocate. In reality, these roles complement each other. Being involved in the community can enhance your business by building trust, loyalty, and a strong reputation. Conversely, running a successful business gives you the resources and platform to make a bigger impact in the community. It’s all about finding ways to integrate the two.

Finally, what legacy do you hope to leave behind through your work and community efforts?

Christopher Linton: I hope to leave a legacy of positive change—both in the business world and in the community. I want to be remembered as someone who didn’t just focus on profit but also cared deeply about the people around him. I want the young people I’ve mentored to go on and do great things, knowing that someone believed in them and invested in their potential. And I want my business to be known not just for its success, but for the impact it had on the community. At the end of the day, it’s about leaving the world a little better than I found it.
