We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Travis Matthew: Hello! My name’s Travis & I founded FoodsPass in 2020 after some lifestyle marketing stints in Food, Fashion & Finance. We’re uniquely merging Fintech & Foodtech to make an Impact. Please learn more at www.FoodsPass.com
2020 and 2021 threw a lot of curve balls into business on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past couple years, how can businesses thrive in 2022? What lessons have you learned?
Travis Matthew: It’s been difficult to make any long-term plans or commitments with everything changing so rapidly, so I’ve learned to stay flexible. One thing that’s been consistent is the importance of food & as I’ve sought out ways to stay centered amidst this all, I’ve found there’s no substitute for well-balanced meals.
The pandemic seems to keep on disrupting the economy, what should businesses focus on in 2022? What advice would you share?
Travis Matthew: In terms of advice, all businesses should stay vigilant about closely monitoring market changes & updating plans accordingly. Remember that open, honest communication with all stakeholders is even more critical than ever.
How has the pandemic changed your industry and how have you adapted?
Travis Matthew: Changes across Fintech & Foodtech are happening at a rapid pace, so these are exciting industries to be developing new, transformative technologies within. One of our goals is to enable the promise of “real-time redemption” with a streamlined payment + savings solution.
What advice do you wish you received when the pandemic started and what do you intend on improving in 2022?
Travis Matthew: Well, I would say that we all have to be prepared for the unexpected & always be ready for whatever comes your way. I’ve already spent endless hours reflecting on bettering myself everyday, in all areas & not just business.
Online business surged higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for 2022?
Travis Matthew: The pandemic has without any doubt boosted the use of digital payments & where cash use was in rapid decline as consumers were encouraged to use contactless payments. Without a doubt, we’ll continue to see accelerated digital transformation to answer to the imminent change in consumer behaviors.
How many hours a day do you spend in front of a screen?
Travis Matthew: Too many!
The majority of executives use stories to persuade and communicate in the workplace. Can you share with our readers examples of how you implement that in your business to communicate effectively with your team?
Travis Matthew: The best story is the truthful one. My approach to communication is to inspire the fuller team to produce their best work yet, as we work towards our collective business goals, while giving them the time & space they need to thrive.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as the real challenge right now?
Travis Matthew: I think the real challenge is to convince yourself to keep taking those risks that ensure you stand out in a big blue ocean, until you are “top of mind”.
In 2022, what are you most interested in learning about? Crypto, NFTs, online marketing, or any other skill sets? Please share your motivations.
Travis Matthew: It’s my job to stay culturally connected to the markets & all the new trends, so while I watch the new era of digital assets & collectibles, I’ve been most interested in bettering my approach to community building in order to maximize brand engagement in real life, as well as online.
A record 4.4 million Americans left their jobs in September in 2021, accelerating a trend that has become known as the Great Resignation. 47% of people plan to leave their job during 2022. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. Do you think leaders see the data and think “that’s not me – I’m not that boss they don’t want to work for? What changes do you think need to happen?
Travis Matthew: It’s unfortunate that toxic leadership styles & antiquated thinking have caused so many Americans to yearn for something else, when a simple change in leadership style could create a more productive company culture that offers financial stability, respect & appreciation.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Travis Matthew: Well, that’s easy.. I would pick the superpower of being able to always make the right decision!
What does “success” in 2022 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Travis Matthew: Success in 2022 means that I’ve continued to grow my business, while increasing our impact to the world. In business I will have continued to help people achieve their goals and dreams. Personally, 2022 will be about continuing to surround myself with intellects that are shaping meaningful culture changes.
