Let’s start by telling us about your business.
Sonali Chaturvedi: Glam Set Go is a mobile salon, bringing hair and make up services to the busy and on-the-go individual through our beautiful glam trucks. Whether it is in the home, on the porch, or in our trucks, we offer individuals a private and luxurious experience, receiving high quality salon services in or near their homes. We currently offer services for special occasions, including bridal parties, in Northern Virginia.
Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?
Sonali Chaturvedi: We offer high quality services and an incredible amount of flexibility, which we think will prove to be extremely beneficial to our clients. In bringing these services to individuals’ homes, it is one less thing for our clients to worry about. We expect the highest level of professionalism from our hair stylists and make up artists, who not only are extremely qualified but also have diversified skill sets to really offer a wide array of options for our clients. At the end of the day, our clients’ satisfaction is of the utmost importance, and we hope that focus will help to create our fan base.
Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition?
Sonali Chaturvedi: Plain and simple – our glam trucks. We have our gorgeous glam trucks, which we believe exhibit the epitome of luxury with glam stations equipped with beautiful red leather Italian glam seats. These trucks will be targeting individuals and families in the suburbs where in-home services are clearly lacking. Additionally, we understand that with in-home services, comes equipment and set up which can take up space in an individual’s home. Our glam trucks offer our clients with accessibility to mobile services without necessarily having anyone come into their home, a particularly important issue given the current pandemic.
And to finish this section, Please tell us what is the one major key to your company’s success?
Sonali Chaturvedi: The GlamTruck itself is a major key to our company’s success, and customers feel safe getting their hair and makeup in our trucks, even in the midst of a pandemic. Initially, we were supposed to launch our business with individual services. But, with COVID, we had to pivot pretty quickly and focused the launch on special events, because we noticed more of a demand for hair and makeup services for birthday parties, weddings, and other special occasions, which really helped drive up our sales.
For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?
Sonali Chaturvedi: Patience is one of the hardest things to have when you have an idea you want to execute. It’s important to create a realistic business plan, and there should be a lot of time spent on research and development (if you are launching a product) and also initiate your market research early in the process of building a company—to make sure you have a good target market for your business. Our process took two years from idea to execution and we are still miles from where we want to see ourselves as a company.
For entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what big piece of advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?
Sonali Chaturvedi: Stay nimble and flexible. There are always roadblocks and challenges along the way and it pays to be able to adjust to ever-changing environments. We would never suggest sacrificing an idea completely. but realize that a particular idea can be presented and achieved in many different ways.
In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?
Sonali Chaturvedi: It definitely helps to be able to multitask; however, even in today’s environment multitasking alone is not enough. It really is important to surround yourself with intelligent individuals. Our employees are bright, eager, and we are constantly conveying information to each other to try and stay on top of the changes occurring from day-to-day.
What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?
Sonali Chaturvedi: Truth-be-told, some mornings are harder than others to wake up; however, a major reason that I do get up in the morning is because I get excited thinking that we have this idea that can provide ease and comfort to many people who are lacking that at the current time -particularly with the pandemic, and it is that excitement that gets me up and going.
