Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, are an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle to keep talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued, and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are you adapting to the current shift we see?
Selva Kumar: Based on my experience, employees greatly value and appreciate recognition and appreciation from their company.
This can be demonstrated through promotions that acknowledge their talents, monthly incentives to motivate their performance, celebrations of special occasions, granting them the freedom to work in their own style, offering official vacation time, providing paid leave for their personal milestones, and fostering a positive work environment that promotes happiness among team members.
These aspects collectively contribute to cultivating a culture of happiness in the workplace. In today’s times, employees are willing to dedicate themselves to their work; they simply seek support and understanding.
This entails acknowledging and accommodating their personal circumstances, providing them with the necessary time to overcome challenges, and whenever feasible, offering options such as work-from-home arrangements and flexible working hours, among other considerations.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Selva Kumar: “Rich Dad Poor Dad” is a personal finance book written by Robert Kiyosaki. It presents a unique perspective on money management and wealth creation through the author’s personal experiences and lessons learned from his two fathers: his own “poor dad” (his biological father, who was highly educated but struggled financially) and his best friend’s “rich dad” (a successful entrepreneur with limited formal education).
The book highlights the differences in mindset, financial education, and approach to money between the two fathers. Kiyosaki emphasizes the importance of financial literacy and acquiring assets that generate income, as opposed to relying solely on traditional employment and accumulating liabilities.
The author delves into various key concepts, such as the difference between assets (things that generate income) and liabilities (things that incur expenses), the importance of understanding cash flow and making investments that generate positive cash flow, and the role of entrepreneurship in building wealth.
“Rich Dad Poor Dad” challenges conventional beliefs about money, encourages readers to adopt a mindset focused on financial independence, and offers practical advice on how to build wealth and achieve financial freedom.
It has become one of the most popular personal finance books, inspiring readers to take control of their financial lives and strive for financial intelligence and independence.
Most of the time I gifted the “Rich Dad Poor Dad” book.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Selva Kumar: The current scenario of embracing new technologies presents a few challenges for us. Our teams typically consist of two to three experienced individuals who guide and mentor their fellow team members.
If the team members grasp the concepts swiftly, there is no cause for concern. However, if some individuals require additional time to comprehend, it poses the sole challenge for us.
