Saad Amir: Hello, I’m Saad Aamir, leading at BuzzFlick. I began as a storyboard artist and moved up from Productions Head. I love adding creativity to our animation projects, collaborating to boost output and excel in art and business, helping BuzzFlick grow.

Can you share a time when your business faced a significant challenge? How did you navigate through it?
Saad Amir: Well, when the whole world was shut down due to Covid-19 pandemic, our business was on the boom. But our biggest challenge came during a market downturn certainly, impacting client budgets.
To navigate and cope up with this pesky phase, we pivoted towards more cost-effective solutions, and focused on enhanced client relationships. The happier your client is, the progressive you’ll be, and that worked wonders for us.
Also, we restructured our internal working processes for greater efficiency. Adapting to the new business dynamics swiftly helped us weather the storm.
How has a failure or apparent failure set you up for later success?
Saad Amir: As soon as I got charge of BuzzFlick, a video marketing agency, a project setback taught me resilience and adaptability. Instead of taking my failure to my nerves, I treated it as a learning opportunity.
This mindset shift has been crucial in navigating subsequent challenges and fostering innovation.
How do you build a resilient team? What qualities do you look for in your team members?
Saad Amir: Resilience is key to bounce back from your failures, recover, or adapt it positively in the face of adversity, challenges, or significant stress.
That is why I seek team members who embrace challenges with an open heart, learn from the setbacks they face, and collaborate with the team effectively.
The most crucial is they must have emotional intelligence as it is necessary to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.
How do you maintain your personal resilience during tough times?
Saad Amir: Personal resilience stems from a healthy work-life balance, regular reflection, and maintaining a positive outlook.
Seeking support from mentors and maintaining open communication with my team provides added strength.
What strategies do you use to manage stress and maintain focus during a crisis?
Saad Amir: First of all, I make sure prioritization as it is vital for any task management during stress and crises. I ensure to keep my focus on the most critical tasks, delegate the team effectively, and encourage open communication within the team.
To manage stress, I ensure regular breaks and fun activities that bring joy. It is extremely helpful when it comes to alleviating stress.
How do you communicate with your team during a crisis?
Saad Amir: Transparency is key. I ensure open, honest communication, sharing challenges and potential solutions.
Regular check-ins and fostering a supportive team culture enable everyone to navigate uncertainties together.
What advice would you give to other CEOs on building resilience in their organizations?
Saad Amir: Encourage a culture of adaptability and continuous learning. Foster open communication, prioritize employee well-being, and invest in professional development. A resilient organization is built on a resilient and empowered team.
How do you prepare your business for potential future crises?
Saad Amir: Proactive planning is essential. We conduct scenario analyses, ensure robust contingency plans, and stay agile to adapt quickly.
Investing in technology, staying updated on industry trends, and maintaining financial prudence are also key strategies.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about leadership in times of crisis?
Saad Amir: The importance of empathy. Understanding and acknowledging the challenges faced by the team fosters a sense of unity. Leading with compassion during tough times builds trust and strengthens the team’s resolve to overcome adversity.
