How Matt Kirkegaard is putting his community first and business second.

Multi Passionate Living

Matt Kirkegaard is the founder of Movement Property Group (Keller Williams), he has two albums in 2017’s Stories of India and 2021’s Love Undefined, he has served as the host of the popular lifestyle and real estate streaming show, The American Dream, has built a stout team of real estate professionals and experts, and has a beautiful family including two adopted children from India. He is also the Chair of the Individual Membership of the Freedom Council at the Alliance of Freedom, Restoration, and Justice (AFRJ) and founder of the LiftUp philanthropic fund.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also built quite the reputation as a Top 100 real estate agent, including being named a Top 10 agent in the highest-volume office in the state of Tennessee.

The seasoned musician and real estate extraordinaire is helping change the way people buy and sell their homes in the state of Tennessee, including the booming and challenging market in Nashville. It wasn’t always great, however, as Kirkegaard battled homelessness, struggled with where his career was heading and tried to find his way, both professionally and personally.

In fact, when he was just 14 years old, Kirkegaard bowed out of an opportunity to attend The Juilliard School because he wanted to pursue a solo career and focus on his composition.

It all began to make sense in 2015 for Kirkegaard when he founded ‘Make Nashville Your Home’ and after garnering numerous top laurels as a real estate agent, pivoted the company to what it is today, Movement Property Group.

Movement Property Group covers a vast area across the state of Tennessee, including both East and West Nashville, Germantown, Franklin, Brentwood, Green Hills, Belle Meade, Forest Hills and 12 South. The firm navigates buyers, sellers and investors through the entire process and even points them in the right direction for top performers in both mortgaging and financing.

LiftUp (Your Community by Giving Back)

Movement Property Group prides itself on giving back to the local community per its non-profit philanthropic organization, LiftUp. The fund gathers 10% of closing net revenue to provide financial relief and support to families and individuals who may currently be struggling to meet their mortgage obligations, rent payments, and other payable services. Additionally, funds also are applied to providing support to those affected by unfortunate events and circumstances beyond their control.

Kirkegaard and Co. believe in three pillars of the program. The first is a responsibility as Movement Property Group encourages the community to play its part just as it plans to. Considering many experiences unjust circumstances and difficult occasions each year, ones which can smash the hope so many people possess, it is important to remain committed to giving back. The second is your participation. By simply listing your home or working with Movement Property Group to buy a home, you are playing a vital role in contributing to the fund. The third is Matt’s part, or that of his team, as portions of sales are directly contributed to the fund for eventual distribution to those in need.

Giving back is important to Movement Property Group and that could not be more apparent than with its important role in lending services to the forthcoming Shelby Green Development. The new luxury community project has already broken ground. With 20 homes coming this summer, just off the Shelby Golf Course, more homes will certainly be around the corner. The neighborhood in East Nashville is popular and located within walking distance of iconic restaurants, like Ugly Mugs and Rosepepper, as well as other top city sites.
