NO child ever says I want to be a CEO/entrepreneur when I grow up. What did you want to be and how did you get where you are today?
Harrison Baron: When I was a child I just knew I wanted to work in tech. It was when I worked in an IT Company I found that I was better at being my boss than an employee. When I was an employee I was suggesting marketing companies to my clients who weren’t doing anything for them. When I started my own business I found that I was able to help them market themselves and they were more successful than ever before.
Tell us something about yourself that others in your organization might be surprised to know.
Harrison Baron: I used to work as a bartender and I am also a volunteer firefighter.
Many readers may wonder how to become an entrepreneur but what is an entrepreneur? How would you define it?
Harrison Baron: I would define an entrepreneur as someone who is the head of their own business that is based around their passions and interests.
What is the importance of having a supportive and inclusive culture?
Harrison Baron: To find ways to connect with both your employees and clients so your employees will want to work with you and your clients will want to use your business and refer you to other customers.
How can a leader be disruptive in the post covid world?
Harrison Baron: By not giving their employees space and letting them do their work on their own time if they are working remotely.
If a 5-year-old asked you to describe your job, what would you tell them?
Harrison Baron: I help people with their business by getting them more customers.
Share with us one of the most difficult decisions you had to make for your company that benefited your employees or customers. What made this decision so difficult and what were the positive impacts?
Harrison Baron: The most difficult decision I made was to decide how to afford to pay my employees during the pandemic when most of my clients went out of business. This was difficult for me because I wanted my employees to be paid for their hard work but I didn’t know how I could afford it. Therefore I decided to implement a work at home system. The positive impact was that implemented employee productivity as the employees were doing more work than ever before, which helped get our business up and running.
Leaders are usually asked about their most useful qualities but let’s change things up a bit. What is your most useless talent?
Harrison Baron: Sports. Not great at sports.
Thank you so much for your time but before we finish things off, we do have one more question. If you wrote a book about your life until today, what would the title be?
