Shant Kevonian is a tech-savvy entrepreneur with a knack for solving complex technical problems. Armed with a sharp mind and a passion for innovation, he has enjoyed success across a number of different verticals over his distinguished career to date.
In particular, Shant has excelled at creating proprietary algorithms and solutions geared towards scaling early and medium-stage enterprises. Currently, he is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EtherMail, the first Web3 email solution setting the standard for anonymous and encrypted wallet-to-wallet communication.
Here, Shant is responsible for directing the company’s growth strategy, while overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the business.
Before founding EtherMail with fellow serial entrepreneur Gerald Heydenreich, Shant was known for his exceptional analytical, managerial, and technical acumen across a number of C-suite positions, including CTO of cang.eco — a marketplace for eco-conscious brands and sustainable products — and CTO of Youtiful.net — the carbon-neutral cosmetics brand and genesis platform that would subsequently launch cang.eco.
In 2018, Shant founded Prodcast.tv — a fully-integrated marketplace and live video-streaming platform delivering a dynamic video-shopping experience to consumers, providing a competitive alternative to Twitch and Amazon.
Prior to this, Shant served as Head of R&D at Pippa&Jean — a social selling community geared towards empowering 100,000 women to start their own business, as well as CTO of Deliverea — a cloud shipping management service that manages the logistics of users’ e-commerce platforms. He also served as an advisor to metaverse platform Soundstage.fm, extending his technical expertise to the Web3 industry.
Shant’s entrepreneurial ventures have always been driven by his passion for solving technical challenges and leveraging technology as a force for good. His relentless pursuit of innovation and unwavering determination to overcome technical hurdles make him a true pioneer in the Web3 arena – his current focus area.
As someone who has been firmly embedded in the crypto and blockchain space for the past number of years, Shant grew to appreciate the communications challenges confronting Web3 projects – particularly in terms of maintaining direct contact with asset holders.
That is precisely the problem that EtherMail is solving – enabling companies to send rich, relevant content directly to their asset holders based on blockchain-synced real-time information.
For example, the EtherMail solution is currently being leveraged by a host of Web3 projects to deliver personalized newsletters, timely and tailored updates, and relevant information directly to their token holders’ inboxes.
Shant’s leadership skills and ability to assemble a talented team have been instrumental in driving EtherMail’s stunning early success. Under his stewardship, EtherMail has experienced rapid growth, onboarding more than 500,000 users and integrating with ENS (Ethereum Name Service) and Unstoppable Domains, extending the reach of the EtherMail solution to millions of registered UD and ENS users.
EtherMail also facilitated Web3 voting for Decrypt Studios’ inaugural Crypties Awards 2022 with more than 10,000 participants – the crypto industry’s preeminent annual awards initiative.
Based on this early success and extensive future roadmap, EtherMail secured a $4 million pre-Series A funding round led by Tim Draper and Draper Associates earlier this year.
Having previously invested in Ethereum, Tesla, Coinbase, Polygon, and SpaceX, Draper has a proven track record in backing bonafide industry disruptors, and Shant believes EtherMail is at home among these trailblazing companies.
This recent pre-Series A round followed a $3 million seed round in August 2022, led by top Web3 investors Fabric Ventures and Greenfield One.
With Shant at the helm, EtherMail has quickly established a market-leading position, setting the standard for Web3 email communication. However, helping Web3 projects maintain direct communication with their asset holders is just one aspect of the EtherMail platform.
Shant also wants to usher in a new advertising paradigm – one that prioritizes the privacy preferences of end users. He is firm in his conviction that email inboxes need a personalized protective layer to incentivize readers to engage with marketing inbounds.
Fundamentally, Shant believes users should be rewarded for the attention and time they spend every day sifting through unwanted marketing inbounds in their inboxes. It is Shant’s contention that the Web2 landscape has facilitated an advertising free for all, with the privacy of user data being undercut at every turn.
He wants to reverse this trend and pass the considerable advertising spend directly back to the user in the form of $EMT, EtherMail’s native utility token, which will be launched as part of the company’s future roadmap. At the moment, users can earn rewards in EMC tokens. Eventually, EMC rewards will be converted to EMT.
The EMC : EMT conversion rate will be defined at the time of token launch. Shant believes that by charging brands to place ads directly in front of users, this will encourage the placement of relevant content based on a user’s scope of interests.
