We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Komal Chaturvedi: I’m Komal Chaturvedi, Co-Founder & CEO of MotionGility Pvt. Ltd. where we help startups and enterprises explain and communicate their complex products within 60 – 90 seconds through animated explainer videos.
As the CEO, I lead a team of marketers, illustrators, and animators ensuring that a brand’s product reach is amplified and gets in the eyes of its target audience effectively.
In our 8 years of successful operations, we have helped clients such as ADNOC, Pfizer, Nissan, Vicks, AutoDesk, etc., market their objectives, products, and services, which won us multiple awards and industry-wide recognitions.
Along the same lines, I was also featured on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Times of India under the banner of Top Women Entrepreneurs leading change
In the past year, what is the greatest business achievement you’d like to celebrate with your team? Please share the details of that success.
Komal Chaturvedi: In the past year, MotionGility was recognized by multiple B2B rating companies such as Clutch, The Manifest, and DesignRush, in their lists of Top Motion Graphic Studios, Top Video Production Agencies, etc.
Getting featured on such marquee lists strengthened our commitment to delivering exceptional video solutions to our esteemed clients.
Secondly, an article highlighting our efforts to help emerging technology startups such as the ones operating in the AI, Blockchain, Metaverse, etc., domains boost their marketing efforts was featured on the Jeff Bullas website.
Another grand achievement of us from the past year I believe is when we landed top-tier financial & banking services clients in the likes of HDFC Bank, SBI, Portfolio+, etc.
We delivered them quality and results-driven videos that helped them explain their new initiatives and service platforms with ease.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Komal Chaturvedi: One of the advice I wish I had received is to make different sources of channels when you are into business instead of being dependent on one.
With this, we are exploring many opportunities for our business exploring different channels each day and each quarter to build a strong foundation.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Komal Chaturvedi: Last year, I finally managed to take the time and read Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk! And after completing reading it, I said to myself – Why did it take me so long to read this entrepreneurship masterpiece?
While reading, I felt as if Gary was speaking to me in person, given how influencing and engaging his personality is.
Regarding how the book influenced me, I always wanted to establish my business and run a startup. Back at college, I used to love reading about Jobs, Ambani, and other visionary entrepreneurs/industrialists despite belonging to the computer science domain.
So when my childhood friend turned better half – Himanshu approached me with a business idea, I straight away jumped into the uncertain world of entrepreneurship and decided to give it a shot!
And what a journey it has been! As per one of his key thoughts of picking up a medium to tell stories, I believe we’ve been doing the same through explainer videos, helping brands communicate their narrative.
Talking about the books I’ve gifted the most, there are 2 – The Two-Minute Revolution: The Art of Growing Business by Sangeeta Talwar and the second, Start With Why by Simon Sinek.
The first one offers blunt motivation to think big and ground-zero insights about how the author navigated the groundbreaking journey of Nestle’s flagship product Maggi, in India. I gifted this to 2-3 of my industry colleagues who were in the B2C domains, hoping it would provide them a window to fetch raw experiences from an industry veteran.
The second one is more about how one can become a leader, how leaders behave, and the skills they must possess to create a pack of followers behind them. I gifted this to a friend who recently got elevated to the role of Vice President at a Product-based company.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Komal Chaturvedi: One of the real challenges I feel right now is the balance between customer and employee demand and satisfaction. On one side we have to keep evolving ourselves as a proficient team for giving the best service to the customers and on the other side, we have to keep our team’s spirit high.
As it’s a cycle of demand and supply and now with the increase in different technologies, customer expectations keeping things up to date is the need of time and on the other side challenging.
2020, 2021, and 2022 threw a lot of curve balls into businesses on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past years, how can businesses thrive in 2023? What lessons have you learned and what advice would you share?
Komal Chaturvedi: Certainly, yes! The period of 2020, 2021, and 2022 was indeed extremely challenging as an entrepreneur to smoothly sail my organization amidst the COVID outbreak.
My biggest lesson from 2022 and 2023 was to adopt a mindset of sailing with the flow. Well, this might seem a bit generalized but when it comes to your business, it differs from industry to industry.
Since we belong to the Animation bracket, it was more about strengthening our inner skills and abilities as creative individuals and how we can serve our clients in a more enhanced manner once things get back to normal.
So this is what I believe and have learned from battling recession and COVID that businesses must continue to constantly upskill themselves and adopt a visionary mindset of achieving goals come what may!
This is because if we continue looking at the big picture while also cherishing and reflecting on our past achievements, we can certainly thrive as a group and meet our overall business objectives.
What does “success” in 2023 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Komal Chaturvedi: 2023 was an exciting year on a professional level. As I look to wind it up, here are a few achievements that I believe would fall under the banner “Success in 2023”:
One of our product explainer videos created for a SaaS Platform was showcased on the big screen at the Genesys GSummit held in Mexico. I and my team were over the moon when our client shared a tiny glimpse of the same.
At the GITEX 2023, another video created for a technology company offering analytics, customer experience, etc., solutions was showcased at one of the display booths.
We scaled our team from 37 to almost 100 employees. These were some of the key highlights of my 2023 from a business perspective and I believe there’s certainly more to come.
