How To Make Your Employees More Productive Through Time Management?

There are multiple ways you could grow productivity inside an organization. One of the most important is using a timesheet or you could use a three-stage process that can be embedded into your organization to improve the time management of your employees. Improving your employees’ time management will reflect directly on their productivity.

Time management is one of the largest expenses for organizations in terms of employee productivity. The average employee wastes approximately eight hours a week doing things other than the job function they were hired to do. The wasted time amounts to over one out of five work days for many employees of the employer’s situation. Click here to read more about managing your time with the help time tracking software.

How to make employees more productive

There are many ways that you could use to make your employees productive to avoid loss of time at the workplace. Notably, eight hours a week of time loss adds up in terms of time lost in a year. The eight hours a week cost billions of dollars in lost productivity yearly. While this number cannot be taken down to zero, you could use it to reduce the losses significantly. To help your employees manage their time effectively, consider incorporating resources like a time management blog into your workplace training programs.

Conducting an assessment of employees activities

During the assessment, it is essential that you get things right. Failing to get things right during the assessment stage can lead to a punitive strategy that could incline employee punishment. Most importantly, the primary objective of time management is improving productivity.

You could use one week as the primary assessment window when assessing employee’s time at their workstations. To do this, you need to have your employees pick a busier time of the year, a week in their life when they assess absolutely everything they do.

It is essential that the assessment is honest. So, when assessing your employees communicate that they include the non-core functions in the assessment. Some non-core functions could be using social media or doing things on text.

Getting an accurate assessment depends on the employee’s accuracy. If the employees give an accurate assessment, you could have an actual improvement in productivity. An accurate assessment needs to be limited and focused but comprehensive enough. That means you would devise a reliable way to save your company from the losses arising from poor time management.

Training the employees on their shortfalls

Training is the most critical part of the three-stage process. The goal of the process is to help your team be faster, more focused, and able to deliver more. You could involve corporate trainers to help make your organization more effective and productive.

Encouraging employees to improve their skillset through continuous learning will help them become more efficient and productive when conducting their tasks. This can imply holding workshops on specific topics or introducing employees to ISO standards via online courses. A more competent staff is going to be better equipped to handle challenges regardless of their nature.

Suppose you implement time management training effectively. In that case, you could improve your employee’s daily work-based activities. Consistent and progressive training slowly helps employees become better at workload management. Most importantly, they become efficient and productive, thus completing their work on time.

If your employees lack time management skills, they usually lag behind in their operations. These lags might result in demotivation and low productivity. The company culture is also affected when an individual worker’s performance suffers. While tracking time in real-time might be a tough sell, there’s an easier way to start it: have them fill out their timesheet at the end of each day. This only takes a few minutes, and you can set a daily reminder to reinforce this habit.

Creating a feedback loop for the employees

Creating a feedback loop is essential to help your organization ensure that they are tracking and developing top performers over the long run. Creating a feedback loop entails implementing simple metrics to track organizational success. It involves setting boundaries of what success looks like.

Success metrics will let your employees know when they are delivering the best or over-delivering. In this system, you could let them know that they are candidates for promotion, bonuses, or other incentives. For the underperforming people, you can provide training or exit opportunities from the organization.

Most notably, feedback can be positive or negative. Either way, it is crucial because it would help your employees to break bad habits. The feedback could help the employees to maintain positive behavior and allow teams to operate more effectively toward the company goals.

Increasing your employee’s productivity through time management can be easy if you follow the three stages: assessment, training, and feedback. It would be best to follow the three stages religiously to realize fantastic results in your employee’s productivity at the workplace. Most critically, the assessment stage should be honest since it is like the core stage in the transformative process.

Creating how-to videos to speed up processes

Accurate assessments and strategic time management are linchpins for productivity. Just as employee evaluations demand precision, how-to videos prove pivotal in expediting tasks. Synthesia, an AI leader, exemplifies this with its AI-powered tutorials, streamlining complex instructions efficiently. This innovative approach accelerates learning, mitigating losses from inefficient time management.

Much like the meticulous one-week assessment for employees, instructional videos demand a comprehensive yet focused approach. Incorporating non-core functions, such as social media or texting, mirrors transparent communication. An accurate and honest evaluation, in both time management and tutorials, becomes the catalyst for tangible productivity improvements, safeguarding against potential losses.
