It is no secret that intense and extreme weather conditions can often lead to severe personal injuries. The question is which weather condition can lead to what kind of injury and how can a personal injury lawyer help?
If you are lucky enough never to have experienced extreme or severe weather that can lead to a high number of painful and traumatic injuries, consider this as an educational blog or a crash course in the dangers of such nightmarish events as well as what we, as individuals can do to fix that. More precisely, how can one help the community deal with such dire weather conditions and what to do in the event of god-forbid, someone sustaining high personal injuries from such nerve-racking events?
Here’s what a traumatic event in the case of extreme weather conditions could be like;
Heat Strokes
First, and this one also happens to be the most common of them all, is Heat Strokes. Most of us have experienced or know someone who has been through a heat stroke. These happen in cases of extremely hot weather. When the sun is high and there is no breeze whatsoever, especially in cases of people who tend to skip meals or not hydrate themselves enough, heat stroke symptoms are highly common.
They could range anywhere from feeling a little hot and dizzy to actually fainting and blacking out. In such cases, it is extremely important that one wakes them up with little showers of water near the eyes and then have them drink room temperature to cold water.
It is also important to inculcate foods in their diet that are high in water content or are of a cooling and soothing nature once consumed.
Frostbites
On the other hand, the exact opposite is also true. In cases of extremely cold weather, one is more likely to experience frostbite if they do not consume enough food or cover their bodies well enough for warmth against the cold, unforgiving winds of an intense winter, It is important in such cases to cover up the person, put a few blankets on them to make them stop shivering. Light up the fireplace and make them sit next to it, a person experiencing frostbite or exhibiting signs of hypothermia may also benefit from a freshly brewed warm beverage such as hot cocoa or numerous other kinds of soothing teas like lavender tea, camomile tea, etc.
Now, on to the more severe types of weather and injuries, they could result in, if one is unfortunate enough to get caught up in those conditions through no fault of their own.
Hurricanes/Cyclones or Tornadoes
Poor poor people who may wound up in one of these conditions are highly likely to be emotionally tortured by the severity of these incidents for life. Not to mention, some may sustain lifelong injuries as well. Truthfully, most people do sustain lifelong injuries from being caught under flooded or hurricane/tornado-hit buildings. Some people experience blunt force traumas from just being in close proximity. In such cases, it is important to get first responders on the scene as soon as possible. At the same time, many of these people could sue for the compensation of injuries sustained. This could be done through a very simple procedure that any lawyer could easily walk them through.
Floods and Earthquakes
In regions like South Asia, floods are rather commonplace but anywhere in the world they hit only once in a while, and they could have severer effects. Not to mention if they weren’t forecasted and predicted ahead of time. In such cases, there is much to lose for the poor innocent residents of the area. Not to mention the only thing that is worse than flooding, is natural unpredictable earthquakes that the meteorologists did not see coming in time enough to vacate the area. In this case, not only do people get physically injured, and emotionally tortured but they also lose their houses or at least sustain a large amount of property damage in dollars. Again, if no attempt is made for rehabilitation on behalf of the authorities, and no concentration camps are set up to deal with the injuries through proper medical procedures, one can always hire an attorney to plead their case.
Lightening and Wildfires
Before we get into the details, let us get this out of the way these are extremely rare and highly unlikely cases of extreme weather conditions; there is a very low chance of these happening in urban or suburban housing areas, but the chances exist nonetheless.
If one is struck by lightning, there are near to no chances of their survival, if they do survive, they would need to remain in intensive care for days to months on end.
The same is also true for wildfires, however, if one is fortunate enough to make it out with minor injuries or if they, for instance, sustain property damage in a wildfire but make it out alive with not-so-fatal and somewhat healable injuries, or even if one is fortunate enough to live through the incident, they can hire a legal law firm to try and cover some of their financial and medical losses.
With those out of the way, let’s just do our best to help the community whenever we can and do everything in our power to raise awareness, as well as to remain safe. Stay hydrated and be prepared to fight the weather, always.
