If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?
Eric Sornoso: If I were to find myself in an elevator with Warren Buffett, I would introduce myself as an entrepreneur behind the Mealfan, technology driven, meal delivery company with the objective of delivering the chef-crafted meals to our customers’ doorsteps.
Our company is unique in the crowded meal delivery arena because it aims at one thing which is never compromising on quality, convenience, and sustainability.
The basis of what makes Mealfan different to the others is the fact that we are technology oriented which is combined whithout compromising the entire culinary experience.
Unlike meal delivery services providers that typically focus on a particular cuisine, we strive to provide a diverse selection of nutritional and where possible chef-crafted meals that will cater to a wide range of taste buds.
The biggest strength of ours comes from the fact that technology is seamlessly merged with unique cuisine to attain dining excellence.
Using data obtained from cookery or well-being surveys and incorporating the newest ways of food preparation, our meals are always better than our customers want and these are both nutritious and convenient.
What is Mealfan in essence is more than a meal-delivery service: it is an answer in the circle of busiest people who would like to eat something delicious whatever it takes, maintaining at the same time the quality of their food and their convenience.
Our meal delivery service is not only at the helm of the revolution but also gives the customers the power to transform their lifestyle into a healthier and more balanced one with every bit they put in their mouths.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Eric Sornoso: Looking at my business journey as a hindsight, there are a few pieces of guidance I wish I would have gotten earlier. Secondly, they should have been made to realize the significance of grit and toughness.
Starting a business can mean facing a endless string of obstacles and even failures. It is imperative to stand strong through it all.
Also, I believe I should have been directed to look for mentors as well as advisers who could have played a crucial role in helping me chart the right course.
Creating a successful business might require different skills and points of view. However, mentors can help you to overcome business challenges more effeciently.
In addition to this, I wish I was amounted to take care of myself and work-life balance. It?s very easy to fall into the pressures of running a business and not take care of oneself, but in order to avoid burnout and keep up with performance, physical, mental and emotional health is a must.
For the near future (the next quarter), I will target some major areas for improvement, especially. Firstly, I will strive for customer satisfaction by designing surveys and incorporating customer suggestions for future improvements.
Furthermore, I would like to invest in enhancing the skill set and maintaining professional development culture in my team.
Ultimately, I will research more e-marketing channels and partnerships to broaden the internet base and widen the customer base of our platform.
It is by focusing our attention on the areas of improvement that we hope to see a continuation of growth and prosperity in the interim.
Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?
Eric Sornoso: When we look through the year to come, I am sure there will be nothing but growth in the number of online business and it will be as a result of new consumer behaviors and technology.
The digital commerce, distributed work, and virtual interactions have begun to be a fact of life for more and more companies; these are the directions that most businesses are heading to.
However, at our organization, we are fully aware of the possibilities offered by digital transformation and we have decided to take speedy measures to implement them.
Part of our agenda for this year is improving our online presence and digital capabilities to serve our customers who have to function in digitalized society.
Among others, this implies investing in the interface, optimizing our website for mobile users, and the expansion of the digital marketing to new audiences.
In addition to this, we are also placing a special focus on offering extraordinary virtual experiences, not only for our consumers but also for our workforce.
This will be achieved through the use of technology to make online shopping smooth, online meetings a possibility and work arrangements remote.
We also been looking for new ways virtual consultations and telemedicine can integrated into our products, because there is a rapidly increasing need for remote health services.
Other than that, we are focusing on agility and adaptability first in our business operations so as to respond readily to the ever changing market conditions and fresh opportunities that come up.
This embodies supporting scalable infrastructure, instilling a culture of innovation, and being up to date with the latest trends in our sector.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Eric Sornoso: Of all the problems that business has to face today, the real one is dealing with the continuing uncertainty and instability in the global playground.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused chaos all over the world with unsettled industries and supply chain issues, shift in consumers’ behaviors, as well as instability of economy.
Taken this unpredictability into account, businesses often meet difficulties in terms of planning for the future, accommodating the changing environment, and exercising rational decisions.
Moreover, firms deal with the uncertainties of remote work and digital business models. If technology allows for better precision and accuracy it also entails new problems such as cyber security, collaboration, and staff wellbeing.
Managing distant team members, upholding the company’s culture, and achieving productivity in a virtual environment are the major challenges the businesses have to overcome.
Moreover, businesses are being stretched to respond to the growing demands of having a sustainable and equitable entrepreneurship.
Consumers have come to demand of their favorite brands more transparency, honesty, and fairness which has, in turn, made companies rethink their strategies as it becomes evident that these are values which appeal to their clients.
Years 2020-2023 threw a lot of curve balls into businesses on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past years, how can businesses thrive in 2024? What lessons have you learned and what advice would you share?
Eric Sornoso: Looking back at, by far, the most turbulent years in business, 2020-2023, we have indeed confronted the most unpredictable circumstances ever seen on the global scale.
The years ahead of us are 2024, and we need to bear those lessons they taught us and take the strategies into consideration so that our business can evolve and sustain themselves under uncertainty.
Embrace Adaptability: The capacity to be adaptable in the face of unexpected situations is quite in demand now. Businesses should be responsive and agile, gear shifting their strategies, operational activities, and the products and services they offer as often as necessary in order to adapt to the ever-present fluctuations of the market.
Prioritize Digital Transformation: The rapid transformation to digitalization has made the adoption of technology during the pandemic more evident Investing in digital transformation projects – e-commerce, remote work setup, and digital marketing plans – would be imperative for any organization to stay ahead of the competition in 2024 and beyond.
Focus on Customer Experience: Nowadays, the customer experience has become the key to companies’ success in the digital times.
Companies have to pursue omni-channelization of all touchpoints and utilize data and technology in order to keep pace with the expectations and have ability to predict and meet customers need.
Strengthen Supply Chain Resilience: The irregularities in the global supply chains in the recent past have brought to the forefront the necessity to be able to tackle any challenges that might arise.
By diversifying our suppliers, implementing risk mitigation tactics, and investing into supply chain visibility and transparency, these would be the essential elements of the business continuity.
Cultivate Remote Work Culture: The employment model of remote work is more than likely to become a crucial feature of the modern office environment in 2024. Managers should pay attention to culture in distant work and have communication, collaboration and staff well-being as their first priorities.
Address Sustainability Concerns: Businesses should be cognizant of shifting focus to sustainability and social responsibility by taking measures to decrease the environmental impact deliberately and make a positive contribution to society.
Integration of environmentally friendly principles into operation, supply-chain and product offerings can boost image and cut clients who are ecologically aware.
What does “success” in 2024 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Eric Sornoso: Achievement of 2024 success in my personal and professional aspect of my life comes down to striking the right balance of increased contribution to higher purpose along with inner peace and fulfillment.
To me, success involves building a tight-knit family, preserving my physical and mental health, and nurturing my personal interests/hobbies to feel happy and satisfied. Being effective at work is about one stepping back to look after herself, personal growth, and to maintain a balance between work and life, which helps her achieve balance both at a personal level and also in her career.
For business success in 2024, the attributes are: sustainability growth, innovation and positive impacts on people.
It is a matter of getting the things done to reach the set corporate goals, make the company more profitable and to create value for the customers, employees and all other relevant parties.
Success also entails the promotion of a culture of teamwork, inclusivity and self-efficacy, which demonstrates the capacity of all managers and employees to work together to achieve maximum results.
In addition, achievement means having positive influence in our world. For instance, you may choose environmental sustainability initiatives, philanthropic projects, or volunteer programs to do this.
It’s about utilising the valuables of business like resources and influence for impact the direction of positive change and making contribution above the financial metrics.
