Success Story
AgeRejuvenation Medical Clinic is a success story with personal growth at its core. Brett Markowitz cut his teeth in the health and wellness sector by opening a small gym as a personal trainer. Being overweight as a child, he took pride in empowering clients to achieve a better quality of life.
“I knew how to help clients improve their health through diet and exercise,” observes Markowitz. “But even when they followed my advice to the letter, some did not see the success they deserved. I realized that exercise and diet might not be all that mattered.”
Why Brett Markowitz launched the AgeRejuvenation Medical Clinic
One of Markowitz’s regular clients at the gym was a semi-retired healthcare provider. As he picked her brain for medical solutions, she opened his eyes to topics such as metabolism, hormone levels, and thyroid issues that the medical community rarely explores.
Markowitz passed the information to his clients, but time after time, their primary healthcare and insurance providers denied the simple tests to diagnose their health needs. “I launched AgeRejuvenation Medical Clinic because it was the right thing to do,” he remembers. “People were not getting the information they needed, and we knew how to help.
Instead of continuing with a business plan that earned money but did not accurately address the needs of his clients, Markowitz found the courage to completely rebrand his business. “Reinventing my business was the single most challenging thing I have ever done as an entrepreneur,” he recalls. ”Instead of seeing the change as defeating, I used it as an opportunity to grow and change.”
How Brett Markowitz took on the challenge of rebranding
As Markowitz approached rebranding, his mission came into sharp focus. Today, his AgeRejuvenation clinics empower patients with in-depth knowledge and help them make informed medical decisions.
“Traditional healthcare insurance gives people access to standard providers and treatments, but Patients rarely receive information about alternatives,” Markowitz explains. “Insurance companies regulate primary care providers so much that they are reluctant to go outside the box. They do not get paid for that battle, so they do not attempt it.”
Traditional healthcare providers are overworked and over-scheduled. Most healthcare facilities allot 15 minutes for each patient. When patients ask questions or try to discuss alternative treatments, providers do not have the time. After all, they know diagnostic testing and treatment are generally not covered.
By contrast, AgeRejuvenation clinics make it a point to listen to each and every client and provide individualized care. “We are not here to downplay primary caregivers,” Markowitz notes.
“We’re here to show that diagnostic testing offers a better way to approach healthcare.”
Markowitz built AgeRejuvenation to be a fee-for-service practice. In simple terms, this means his providers do not take insurance. They can offer a wide variety of services without being confined by red tape.
“Many people come expecting extremely high fees,” says Markowitz. “The truth is that our average client spends somewhere around $50 to 65 each week. I know people eat out for more than that. Quality of life is worth a lot, and our clinic provides valuable services at affordable rates. We offer the in-depth information that truly improves people’s quality of life.”
AgeRejuvenation believes the best treatment is not always a powerful drug or medication. Some of the clinic’s treatments do not even cost money. For example, the clinic offers blood tests that measure the foods that work well with a person’s body and those that do not. It also provides genetic testing to reveal the workouts that best support each client.
“Our goal is to arm clients with information,” Markowitz comments. “That’s what people are looking for, especially after COVID. People realize their healthcare providers misled them and want to take responsibility for their own healthcare. They no longer want the government, insurance companies, and the FDA to decide about their health and what they put into their bodies. They not only want to know what treatment will work the best but also why it works the best.”
Traditional healthcare providers offer some information, but not enough. For example, if a person has high blood pressure, they receive a prescription to treat the hypertension. They often do not get information about the medication’s side effects. In addition, they fail to come away with low-risk treatments that treat high blood pressure naturally. Worse still, if their blood pressure medication causes a symptom such as erectile dysfunction, they often receive another powerful medication just to treat the symptom caused by the first medication.
“Our approach to diagnosis and treatment separates us from the rest,” claims Markowitz. “We enhance your quality of life by encouraging you to be more knowledgeable about your body and take responsibility for your own health.”
Brett Markowitz shares advice for aspiring entrepreneurs
Markowitz believes that successful entrepreneurs go through a process of understanding their true identity. Before entrepreneurs can go all in, they must know who they are.
“Either you launch a business like everything is on the line, or you tiptoe around your message and accomplish nothing,” says Markowitz. “I committed to my mission in the beginning, and I recommit every day. I travel the country to stay current in my field and am always reading to become a subject matter expert.”
Markowitz advises emerging entrepreneurs to connect to their work with passion. “If you’re chasing money, things don’t ever seem to go right,” he observes. “But when you do the right things for the right reasons, you fall in love with what you do. Every day, I experience the joy of helping people improve their quality of life. I’m excited to go to work in the morning, and I go to bed at night thinking about how to get this information in front of more people. As entrepreneurs, we all have our own superpowers. Identify your superpower, and leverage it to evolve, grow, and help the people around you.”
