We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Art Powell: I’m Art Powell, founder of Trinsic Technologies. With over 25 years in tech, including roles at IBM and PCOrder.com, I’ve built Trinsic into an Austin-based IT leader, known for human-centric technology solutions and innovative cloud services.
Can you share with us your journey towards integrating AI into your business operations?
Art Powell: Like most organizations, our employees interact with the clients using ChatGPT or Claude 2 in their written communications to the clients. We’ve been using Grammarly for years. We have signed a reseller agreement with AHvos, a revolutionary AI that is not an LLM (large language model).
We are currently exploring ways to integrate their product into our helpdesk and have a growing number of clients whom we are doing proof of concepts on using the AI on the back-office operational stack.
What specific areas of your business have been most impacted by AI, and how?
Art Powell: The large language models have made our customer-facing employees more efficient and precise in client communications. They have also increased their productivity by at least 10 – 15%. We’ve used AI at the Executive level to assist in designing better Sales models and to double the interactions our sales emails receive.
We are redesigning our website and using AI to assist in the content and SEO. We are also using AI to publish blogs on the topic of tech and AI and have been receiving a good number of impressions which are growing.
What are the biggest obstacles you’ve faced in implementing AI, and how did you overcome them?
Art Powell: Right now, we are in the hype phase of AI. It is a powerful tool but still needs to improve and has issues. With ourselves and our clients, we are making sure we are focusing the AI on where it makes sense. You probably don’t want to be using an LLM model for your finances when they are prone to hallucinations.
We’ve mandated to our employees which tools are approved and not to use them with sensitive information, as none of the LLM models can guarantee that information won’t wind up as content somewhere else.
What advice would you give to other CEOs looking to integrate AI into their business?
Art Powell: For CEOs keen on integrating AI into their businesses, it’s imperative to begin with a solid grasp of the technology’s capabilities and limitations. Establishing precise goals for AI implementation and prioritizing ethical considerations are fundamental steps.
Initiating pilot projects backed by high-quality data feedback loops from AI users can lay a strong foundation for successful integration. Cultivating a culture that values innovation and adaptability is equally critical.
AI is a new technology in its current state, and it is essential to partner with vendors who can work strategically and tactically with your operations to ensure the AI is being used in a way that will produce accurate results and efficiency.
Recent studies have shown that when AI is implemented in areas where it works well, it can provide employees up to 15 – 20% more efficiency. However, when implemented in operational areas where AI does not work well, it causes a 15% reduction in productivity.
When exploring AI solutions, choosing ones that align with your company’s needs is crucial. Some advanced Large Language Models demand significant resources for training and ongoing maintenance. Solutions like AHvos’s AI technology can be a game-changer in this aspect.
AHvos’s technology significantly reduces the processing power needed to handle large data volumes. It also offers the flexibility to retrain the AI engine without starting from scratch and to enhance or add new features using the existing AI infrastructure. This adaptability and efficiency are critical considerations for any business venturing into AI integration.
How do you see AI evolving in your industry over the next 5 years?
Art Powell: No one predicted Facebook or Twitter. Anyone who thinks they can tell you how AI will be implemented but, most importantly, adapted (which requires humans to do so) is guessing.
The businesses that will win in the next five years will be the ones that can integrate AI successfully into their existing technology stack where it makes sense and will make their employees more successful.
In the next five years, AI in our industry is poised to become more customized and specialized, addressing specific industry needs. AI will streamline monitoring and security analyses. and help technicians become more efficient by assisting with knowledge retention and retrieval.
Within five years, one tech can support double the devices and infrastructures they know. This will be important as more of the world enters the technology infrastructure, and there is a need for more good technicians.
AI is also set to provide chatbots that can perform and deliver the information that customers, prospects, or desire, and better yet, know when they need to hand it off to a live agent. They will also be able to handle most level one issues, allowing agents to be more productive with level two and three issues.
What does “success” in 2024 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Art Powell: Trinsic’s success in 2024 will depend on its ability to help SMB customers integrate AI into their tech stack to compete. Trinsic has a strong culture, and we wish to maintain it while we grow.
My wife of 32 years still wishes to spend time with me. This is my most outstanding achievement, and my desire is for this to continue.
