Akhila Nagabandi: I have completed my Bachelors in Business Administration in 2020 one of the reputed business schools in India. It’s all been started with Internships and Part-Times I was able to get into two MNC Future Group and L&T Constructions as a Part-Time HR and Recruiter which helped me to gain skills in Leadership, Training and Development, Career Planning, Recruitment and Selection. Later worked as a Business Development executive in startups in 2020. Once I completed my undergraduate and joined Pearl Lemon as an HR and Digital Marketing Intern later got promoted to a Full-Time employee and now serving as a Head of HR for two years.
Can you share a quote that is important to you and how it has been relevant in your life?
Akhila Nagabandi: I believe “Choosing Hard Path/Process” is very important to me. I admired those people who persevere against all odds and come up with a winner walking on an uneven path will help you to build strength and productiveness that will build you to succeed anywhere and gives you enough power to tackle the challenges. In my bachelor’s to find one Internship I really worked hard to reach the office since It was far and the public transportation wasn’t great, I used to catch nearly 6 buses every day with a few miles of walk to complete my Internship and the outcome was great I was awarded and recognized in the MNC for what I worked for. It was the beginning step in my career.
Since you began your career, what has been the most interesting thing that has happened to you?
Akhila Nagabandi: There is one interesting thing that happened when I joined L&T constructions as a Part-Time recruiter being a bachelor’s student I got an opportunity to interview my seniors in the same university for apprenticeships that’s where I started my remote working and got habituated all before the pandemic itself haha!
We all need some help along the way to success. It’s important not only to be grateful for that which you have achieved but also to acknowledge those who made it possible and contributed their own part in this journey of life! Is there someone who helped YOU succeed?
Akhila Nagabandi: Definitely yes, my family and friends
Remote work has been on the rise for years now and it’s becoming more common than ever. Akhila Nagabandi: I have worked for a few months onsite indeed there are advantages I could day are :
– You will have direct communication with your colleagues they will be able to understand your queries easily and get them sorted in no time
– When you are in the office you will be completely immersed in work that helps you to gain productivity with the help of your surroundings
– It becomes easier for development team leaders to maintain control over a project especially when the developers are working together on site
What challenges come up when team members aren’t in the same room?
Akhila Nagabandi: – Difficulties in communication
– Lack of trust can breakdown a team’s productivity
– Lack of physical presence cannot engage the team effectively
Let’s talk about how to overcome each of the challenges you’ve faced. What are five key things that will help communicate with your team, even if it is not in person?
Akhila Nagabandi: – Frequent communication
– Conducting virtual meetings/group calls to improve engagement
– Frequent personal calls/chats to discuss how things are going on their end
– Provide them comfort to discuss anything
– Stay available when they want to discuss anything
Have you ever had problems communicating with your coworkers because they work from home? And is it easier for them to transition into an internet-only workplace since that’s what most companies do nowadays?
Akhila Nagabandi: Till now I haven’t faced any issues working from home since we are able to get things done from our place when someone isn’t responding withing 24hours we can make a callto know the issue 🙂
What do you think is the most important thing a business can offer its customers in this day and age? As technology evolves, so too does how we communicate with our clients. Have you noticed any changes in the way you communicate with your clients?
Akhila Nagabandi: I think I’m not the right person to answer this effectively since I work with the Internal team most of the time 🙂
Imagine if you could design a tool to help your business run more smoothly and communicate better with customers or prospects. What would it be like?
Akhila Nagabandi: It would be a communication tool similar to “cooby” where I can differentiate unread messages, yet to reply chats, client groups, and Internal groups to help me to check who is waiting for my reply with a facility where employees/clients can share their mood via emojis feeling bores/unproductivity/happy so that I get a popup and try to change their mood 🙂
As humans, we naturally crave belonging and the feeling of being part a group. This is especially true when it comes to our relationships with each other as well as those who lead us: parents, teachers etc… What can you do on your own time that will help foster this sense or team cohesion?
Akhila Nagabandi: I would say I will give the level of comfort to my team where they can share anything with me so, that all together can solve the issues 🙂
If you could start a movement that would help a lot of people, what would that be?
Akhila Nagabandi: “Equality”
