5 Online Jobs to Consider if You’re Looking to Switch Your Career Path

We get you – somewhere in the process, you realized the career you chose or studied for is not the right one for you. In fact, you’d like to switch it for something new and fresh but don’t quite know for what yet.

The good news is that the job market nowadays is far more open, flexible, and innovative compared to what it used to be. And the trend only progresses this way. New, interesting positions are being created as a result of a big part of our lives moving online. Many of them don’t require extensive experience or education – just a ‘can do’ attitude and some minimal technical capability.

In this article, we’ll do a short recap of a few such jobs and hopefully provide some inspiration for your next career destination.

1. Social Media Manager

Do you spend a lot of time on social media, curating your account, collecting followers, and keeping up with online trends? How about you did that for a living? One way is to become an influencer, but perhaps an easier one is to become a Social Media Manager and take care of your clients’ social media accounts, keeping them on top of the game.

Taking a social media management course (this one is even free) helps with covering the basics, such as how to create a successful online presence and share a specific tone of voice of a company. The rest is up to you – show your clientele that you can boost their reach and make them distinguishable on social media, and you’ve won.

2. Content Writer or Proofreader

You always liked to express yourself in the written form. You actually like to correct people’s grammar. You believe human touch is more valuable than generic, AI-generated texts. And you need to make some money. If at least some of these statements are true, then a career as a copywriter or a proofreader might be ideal for you.

There are many variations to this job: you can work for a company or freelance for different clients (this Udemy course by The Startup Central Co. covers the basics of this). You can show off your persuasion skills in an irresistible sales copy in marketing or share your expertise in educational articles targeted at a specific audience – the sky is the limit when it comes to your copywriting talent.

3. iGaming Customer Support

A customer support position is a great starter when you’re ready to dive into the job market but lack work experience or higher education. Naturally, not everyone is suited for this type of job, but if you’re a highly empathetic ‘people person’ and a good communicator in both written and spoken form, there are many sectors always in need of quality employees.

One of them is iGaming and the online gambling industry. Companies offering customer support roles in this sector often reside in places like Malta or Cyprus, which appeals to adventure seekers from all around the world. You can learn all the essentials about becoming an iGaming Customer Support in this iGaming Customer Support Essentials course by Casino Guru Academy, which explains the nature of this career in more detail.

4. Language Teacher

the class or working in a school system? Or perhaps you’re a foreigner and speak a language that is interesting to a wider audience. Globalization is your friend here. More people than ever are looking to learn a new language, whether it’s for their work portfolio, due to relocation, or just because they have always liked this particular language.

One of the ways how to make money teaching a language is by becoming a teacher on italki. There are requirements, though: you have to either have a language teaching certificate or a university degree in language teaching. If you don’t have these, you can still become a Community Tutor, which means you simply practice conversational language with the students, helping them improve their skills.

5. Virtual Assistant

No, we’re not talking about Siri or Alexa here. In today’s world, many executives or business owners don’t require their assistants to be present at the workplace, so that even their ‘right hand’ can be freelancing from home. Not only that – performing assistant tasks online can become a lucrative job, depending on your set of skills.

Whether your superpower is excellent organizational skills, impeccable communication, or enviable attention to detail, everything is going to be put to good use. Interested? You can learn more about becoming a virtual assistant, for example, in this article on Upwork. Maybe it will inspire you to add skills to your resume that you considered your ordinary traits, but these can be priceless for someone else.
