From the moment you are born and for the rest of your life, each person accumulates experiences that shape their personality, perception of events, and emotional response to situations. However, without guidance, we often fail to process life’s more difficult moments properly and healthily.
By bottling up our feelings and burying them inside, people can cause emotional scarring that can become toxic, limiting personal growth and the ability to achieve goals.
However, according to Randy G. Howell Jr., aka ‘Truth Coach Randy’, the upside is that it is never too late to receive instruction on overcoming life’s hurdles, avoiding trauma, and empowering yourself to achieve your dreams and ambitions.
Howell is the Founder of Truth Coach Randy, a consultancy that provides professional advice to help individuals find harmony using a unique system Howell created that focuses on personal development. He has dubbed his method the ‘S.I.M.S.’ Approach. It helps clients find perspective on their lives and heal trauma using practical steps based on four pillars: Story, Implementation, Manifestation Process, and Show and Tell.
Man in the Mirror
Developed by Howell, the S.I.M.S. Approach encourages participants to turn inwards to identify, acknowledge, and live within their own truth.
“Every day, everyone makes hundreds of decisions,” says Howell. “Sometimes these decisions are relatively mundane, but others may have deep life-changing consequences. But they all impact our lives and determine our productivity, relationships, and, ultimately, how fulfilled, emotionally balanced, and successful we are.”
The concept for the S.I.M.S. Approach came to Howell after he went through his own period of unhappiness and lack of real direction, which led to depression, significant cracks in his marriage, and suicidal thoughts to escape the pain in his life.
“Yeah, I went through a lot, as we all do. And slowly, the weight of everything built and built until it created powerful mental walls that crushed my spirit and kept me from achieving the goals I had set out for myself,” Howell explained. “I was so traumatized that I could not communicate properly with my wife, and our marriage became fractured.”
Walls of Pain
Eventually, the future Truth Coach realized he should bear his soul to his wife and speak to her openly about his childhood and the emotional and mental scars he suffered from a dysfunctional relationship with his parents that continued to affect his current relationships.
With a truthful conversation came an epiphany for the coach. Howell realized he could not only cure himself but also take the lessons he had learned from his own experiences and create a strategy of healing that anyone could use to achieve the same transformative results.
“I like to think I have a pioneering spirit, and I knew I was the one who could bring these valuable lessons to the public and create a purposeful, effective, and ethical business that could really help people,” he said.
Changing the Narrative
Through self-evaluations and analysis, Howell’s clients learn to reconcile their past with their future and create a bridge between where they were, where they are, and where they want to be by understanding their truth to catalyze real, radical, and lasting change.
By identifying where change is needed within the narrative, S.I.M.S. clients can set goals and objectives. Through ongoing assessment, coupled with individual accountability, clients are empowered to reach their loftiest goals and succeed at a level they might have previously denied themselves due to subconscious feelings of unworthiness or ‘imposter syndrome.’
As Howell likes to say, it is only through pain that we truly learn wisdom. And, the truth guru surprisingly revealed, if he could go back in time to remove the suffering he experienced in his early years, he wouldn’t change a thing.
“Without going through my own pain and heartache, I would not have been able to develop the S.I.M.S. Approach and help others move on from their struggles. I am truly blessed to see the smiles return to our clients’ faces as we equip them with the tools to conquer insecurity, doubt, and inner turmoil; it is a great honor.”
Learning more about how Howell has overcome trauma to live a fulfilling life that enables others to do the same is inspiring and a reminder that there is always improvement to be made that can lead to even more fulfilling lives.
