Company: Sara Does SEO
We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Sara Dunn: I’m Sara Dunn, an SEO strategist specializing in the wedding industry. As the founder of Sara Does SEO, my team and I help wedding professionals—planners, photographers, florists, venues, and more—get found online by their dream clients.
My journey into SEO started when I ran a web design agency and saw so many talented business owners struggle to attract traffic to their beautiful websites. I became obsessed with figuring out how to make Google work for them, not against them. That passion led me to niche down exclusively into SEO for wedding professionals, a space where search engine visibility can make a huge difference in booking more clients.
Through The SEO Fix, my done-for-you service, and Wedding SEO Bootcamp, my hands-on course, I provide strategies that help wedding pros rank higher on Google and grow their businesses with organic search. My mission is to make SEO feel simple and approachable, so my clients can focus on what they love—creating unforgettable wedding experiences.
I’ve had the honor of speaking at industry events like Wedding MBA and being featured in platforms like HoneyBook and Rising Tide. It’s been an amazing journey helping wedding pros turn their websites into powerful marketing tools!
If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?
Sara Dunn: I help wedding professionals get found on Google so they can book more of their ideal clients without relying on paid ads or social media. My company, Sara Does SEO, specializes in search engine optimization (SEO) for the wedding industry, providing tailored strategies that make wedding businesses more visible online.
What makes us different? Unlike generalist SEO agencies, we focus exclusively on the wedding industry. We understand how engaged couples search, what they care about, and how to position wedding businesses to show up in those searches. This specialized approach leads to faster, more effective results.
Our biggest strength? Making SEO feel simple and doable. Many business owners feel overwhelmed by SEO, so we break it down in a way that’s easy to understand and implement.
Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, is an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle to keep talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued, and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are you adapting to the current shift we see?
Sara Dunn: At Sara Does SEO, I’m proud to lead a fully remote team of 11 talented women who have chosen flexibility without compromising goals and performance. Many of my team members are high performers who left the corporate world seeking work that allows them to balance their personal and professional lives more effectively.
I believe employee happiness comes from trust, autonomy, and respect. We offer flexibility in hours and work environment, so team members can do their best work in a way that fits their lives. Instead of micromanaging, I focus on clear communication, setting expectations, and giving my team the freedom to care for our clients well.
The shift we’re seeing in the workplace isn’t just about dissatisfaction—it’s about people demanding careers that align with the life they want to live. By prioritizing flexibility, positivity, and personal growth, I’ve built a team that is not only engaged but truly invested in our mission of helping wedding professionals grow their creative businesses.
Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?
Sara Dunn: Online business is evolving, and search visibility is shifting right along with it. While traditional search engines like Google are still essential, we’re also seeing a rise in AI-driven recommendations, from tools like ChatGPT.
At Sara Does SEO, we’re staying ahead of the curve by helping wedding businesses not just rank on Google, but also position themselves to be recommended in AI-powered searches. As AI tools become part of how couples research vendors and make decisions, we’re optimizing content in a way that aligns with these new search behaviors.
In the year ahead, I expect that we’ll continue to be thought leaders in how businesses are discovered online. The businesses that win will be the ones that understand search intent, structure their content for both human readers and AI, and choose to lean into high-quality online content. Our goal is to ensure our clients don’t just keep up but lead the way.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Sara Dunn: Right now, the biggest challenge in business is the fight for attention. Consumers—whether they’re engaged couples searching for wedding vendors or business owners looking for services—are bombarded with messages, ads, and content everywhere they turn. One interaction isn’t enough. If we want to make an impact, we have to be memorable, consistent, and keep showing up.
In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Sara Dunn: I think the most underestimated part of running a business is focus and consistency. It’s easy to get excited about new ideas, a fresh initiative, or the next big opportunity. The real challenge is resisting the urge to constantly pivot and instead doubling down on what already works—refining, optimizing, and improving it over time.
In my industry, it’s rare for someone to spend seven years serving the same market with similar services. There’s always the temptation to expand the target audience, chase new trends, or add more services just because the opportunity exists. But I’ve learned that true mastery—and long-term business success—comes from going deeper, not wider.
By staying laser-focused on SEO for wedding professionals, I’ve been able to fine-tune every inch of my process. I know exactly what works, what doesn’t, and how to get the best results for my clients. This level of expertise wouldn’t be possible if I were constantly shifting focus. Instead of spreading myself thin, I’m able to innovate within my niche, making small but powerful improvements that compound over time.
In a world that rewards novelty and fast pivots, I’ve found that discipline in staying the course is the real secret to sustainable growth.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Sara Dunn: If I could have any business superpower, I’d choose X-ray vision to see exactly what inspires and drives each of my team members.
Leading a remote team of high-performing women, I know that motivation looks different for everyone. Some thrive on recognition, others on creative freedom, growth opportunities, or making an impact. If I could instantly understand what fuels each person’s best work, I could create an environment where they feel valued, energized, and deeply fulfilled.
A motivated team is the foundation of a thriving business, and while I may not have this superpower (yet!), I strive to lead with curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to truly understanding what makes my team excited to show up every day.
What does “success” in 2025 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision
Sara Dunn: For me, success in 2025 means growth—not just in revenue, but in impact. I want to continue expanding Sara Does SEO in a way that supports my growing team with fulfilling, meaningful work while ensuring our clients see even faster and better results.
SEO is constantly evolving, and my vision is to stay ahead of the curve—continuing to refine our strategies, embrace new AI-driven search trends, and optimize every part of our process so wedding professionals can get found online with even greater ease.
On a personal level, success also means maintaining the balance that allows me to lead with clarity and intention. Growth is important, but so is building a business that’s sustainable, both for me and my team. If we can make a bigger impact while still prioritizing flexibility, creativity, and joy in our work, that’s the kind of success I’m striving for in 2025.
