We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Peter Boolkah: I am a global award-winning coach with a brilliant team behind me. I help to channel your ambition to move past roadblocks so we can implement structures, systems and a management team, freeing you to take your business to the next stage.
I help my clients to gain a secure financial future for themselves and their businesses. Form a stable leadership team, with robust systems and processes in place and build solid plans for the future, ensuring consistent growth.
My transition into business coaching came after spending 15 years at McDonald’s where I was exposed to all aspects of business on a global scale; this gave me the skills and experience to establish my own company.
I have had the fortune of working with great innovators and leaders who have got the right mindset and vision for a successful business. I’m proud that with my guidance they installed the right business structure, systems and management strategies, to reach their full potential. I facilitate year-on-year growth and help business owners achieve a degree of personal freedom that may have previously been lacking.
My business coaching style is designed to be personal and bespoke to the needs of my clients. I focus on honesty with a no-nonsense approach coupled with genuine empathy to provide real value and satisfaction to every client and their business.
Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, are an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle to keep talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued, and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are you adapting to the current shift we see?
Peter Boolkah: I believe in the power of communication all day long. Ignoring people and supporting them is the fastest way to lose them. People want to work for a company where the culture is not toxic, the work is worthwhile and there is a sense of meaning to what they do.
Too many employers are either lazy leaders or do not have the skills to lead today’s workforce. Quiet quitting is only a problem with leaders do not have their finger on the pulse.
Here is a two-fold question: What is the book that influenced you the most and how? Please share some life lessons you learned. Now what book have you gifted the most and why?
Peter Boolkah: David Goggins ‘Can’t Hurt Me’ is my go-to book. He and his book have been the single most important and influential thing in my life. It is all about mental resilience. We must focus on mental wellbeing. To achieve mental resilience you have to work really hard.
You have to learn it. It is a skill. It is no good being physically healthy if your mind is not. We are seeing trauma, especially in our younger generation, the likes that haven’t been seen since the war. It is imperative we teach our young the gift of mental resilience.
The only way to navigate the world is to be more prepared for it through mental fitness.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Peter Boolkah: Online commerce is not going away and will become more and more popular as people value both time and convenience. Bricks and Motor shopping may not totally disappear but needs to evolve if people are to leave their house to shop.
The same can be said for office and remote working. We are in a new era and things will not just return to the pre-COVID norm.
Remote working will continue to improve and we need to find a better way to find the right balance for both workers and employers. We must jump on board and change our working practices to ensure growth.
In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Peter Boolkah: Advice. Leaders and CEOs need support and someone to bounce ideas off who is independent. When I started out I needed more support. I got a lot of well-meaning advice but not much support.
I wished I had been surrounded by a network of people who could have guided me and taught me along the way so I could have accelerated my growth. That is why I now do what I do. I help others in this way so they can accelerate their growth.
What does “success” in 2023 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Peter Boolkah: I have opened a new business venture in really tough economic conditions. Visibility SEO launched in March 2023 and already has 11 employees and a strong growing customer base. I also won the ActionCOACH global coach of the year was very humbling in a peer group of over 1200 coaches.
These things mean success but also I feel fulfilled on a personal level because the way I work allows for personal freedom. Ensuring my clients also have this also means a level of success for me.
