One of the biggest players in this new Hollywood is Neil Mirchandani, CEO and Founder of LLL Event Furnishings & Rentals (LLL). Whether it’s a music video launch or supplying the sets for Netflix’s Love is Blind, Mirchandani is the go-to man, having worked successfully on hundreds of projects in his decade in the business. Today, after 12 years in the rental industry, LLL made revenue of $11 million in 2022.
Whether it’s dressing sets, creating atmosphere, producing fabulous backdrops, or creating bespoke items, he and his team of 35 crafters in their 70,000-square-foot warehouse work tirelessly to make every detail perfect.
He’s made himself the go-to name on producers’ lips when filming projects in Atlanta, and he’s got the contact list to prove it, having worked with industry heavyweights on top-tier projects in the niche luxury rental field.
“It’s an unusual industry, but one that I wouldn’t trade for any other. The excitement, the fast turnarounds, the late nights creating the perfect bespoke item that my staff and I later catch glimpses of on TV, in movies, and in music videos — it’s exhilarating,” said the Founder.
Day in the Life
With how hectic his life and job are, it’s not surprising that Mirchandani starts his mornings early and tries to empty his inbox before the day takes on a life of its own with last-minute requests, emergency repairs, and more.
“My work day starts early. I get to our office at 5:30 am every weekday, and sometimes Saturdays too. I plow through my emails for an hour and a half before getting flooded with calls about new and prospective projects,” he said.
Between 7 and 8 am, his warehouse, sales, and front-end staff arrive at their respective stations, and his day really begins to happen. In addition to his roles as Founder and CEO, he also manages his teams.
“My assistant goes through my scheduling for the day, and inevitably there are last-minute project changes from the day before. Next, I head into the warehouse for an hour or two, see how things are progressing, and make sure everything is good for the day,” he said.
From there, it could be meetings on or off-premises, dinner with clients, stopping into events he has helped to produce, and finally, in bed by midnight to start it all again the next day.
Upward Trajectory
If you’re wondering how this CEO found his way to the top of a niche industry, it’s a bit of luck, a pinch of timing, and a large helping of smart decisions.
Mirchandani grew up in Chicago with an entrepreneurial mindset. He was already working for himself by DJing weddings at 15 years old. He presented his independent business so professionally that soon clients were asking if they could rent lighting and sound equipment from him in addition to his DJ services.
He immediately saw the potential and took a leap, buying the equipment with his savings and renting it to the first clients that asked. It paid off quickly, and he soon found himself buying and renting luxury sofas, chairs, and other furnishings that people wanted to rent for high-end weddings, events, and launches.
He’s been scaling ever since and has as much enthusiasm for the industry as ever. “We rent furniture, dance floors, red carpet items, and so much more. We also make bespoke items for movie sets and events. Whether it’s a film production, celebrity gala, music video set, or star-studded afterparty, we have what they need,” he said.
