We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Melanie Marten: I am thrilled to be here, thank you for having me. I’ve dedicated my career to empowering purpose-driven entrepreneurs, and we do that by fostering authentic communication through thought leaders and brands.
In addition to the traditional PR agency work I do at The Coup, I founded PRontheGO for founders with limited PR and marketing budgets. At PRontheGO, we are a global network of proven PR experts who provide the Creator Economy with valuable insights into the power of PR.
If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffet, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?
Melanie Marten: We are building PRontheGO to provide digital PR intelligence to entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to empower anyone to build a successful global or local business by providing PR tips and growth hacks at no cost through our online platform.
What sets us apart is our network of vetted and proven PR and growth experts who provide actionable and snackable PR intelligence and help people land free publicity. Our tagline is “The Entrepreneur’s Source For Global Prime PR Hacks.”
Our biggest strength is the accessibility of our resources, which is an excellent tool for anyone looking to start or scale a business.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Melanie Marten: Looking back on my business journey, the advice I wish I had received earlier on was the importance of project management skills. As a creative entrepreneur, I initially didn’t see the appeal of project management and viewed it as a mundane task.
However, as I gained more experience in the field, I realized how essential it is to have strong project management skills to effectively complete projects and achieve business goals.
Moving forward and in the quarter to come, precise project management processes are actually the most crucial tool in further developing PRontheGO.
Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?
Melanie Marten: The accelerated shift towards online business has fundamentally altered the economic landscape, creating a wave of opportunities for remote workers, entrepreneurs, and consumers.
As a result, businesses must adapt to this new reality or be left behind. At The Coup, we recognize the importance of global outreach, and we are capitalizing on the tidal wave by promoting and executing the internationalization of businesses.
Meanwhile, at PRontheGO, we are empowering founders to embrace the vast potential of digital touchpoints and artificial intelligence to scale their businesses across borders.
In the coming year, we expect to see a continued surge in online business, and we are committed to staying ahead of the curve by constantly innovating and adapting to the changing digital landscape.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Melanie Marten: For small and midsize businesses, the challenge right now is to master how to use all the AI releases to make them work for you right away. AI is designed to free us from repetitive or time-consuming tasks by tapping into peer knowledge.
This frees up resources for critical thinking in times of environmental change, for innovation, and for implementing sustainable processes. We all now have the opportunity to work on what really matters, rather than focusing on mundane tasks that will be taken over by artificial intelligence.
The business landscape will change even more dramatically with a predicted 50% of the workforce becoming freelancers. This makes sense as large corporations continue to squeeze the output of their employees, and instead of freeing up resources for them through advanced technologies, employees are now being asked to take on multiple roles at once.
A more competitive landscape is likely due to the fact that more people are entering the market as freelancers, creating more competition. Additionally, as companies continue to adopt AI and advanced technologies to streamline their operations, there will be an increased focus on efficiency and productivity.
This means that small and midsize businesses will need to master the use of AI and other technologies to remain competitive and continue to grow. They will also need to ensure that they offer unique value propositions and stay on top of industry trends to attract and retain customers.
2020, 2021, and 2022 threw a lot of curve balls into businesses on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past years, how can businesses thrive in 2023? What lessons have you learned and what advice would you share?
Melanie Marten: The past few years have presented global businesses with unprecedented challenges, but as we step into 2023, it’s time to look beyond those curve balls and embrace the exciting advancements in technology. The lesson learned is that agility and adaptability are key to survival.
Businesses that can pivot quickly and create short-term goals while keeping an eye on the long-term vision are the ones that will thrive.
As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, it presents a wealth of opportunities for businesses willing to embrace it. The key is to stay future-focused, continually innovating and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
The pace of change is only going to accelerate, so those who haven’t already done so need to adapt fast to changing environments and take full advantage of the opportunities that AI brings.
My advice for businesses in 2023 and beyond is to stay nimble, embrace emerging technologies, and focus on the opportunities that are opening up.
Keep your long-term vision in mind, but be prepared to pivot and adapt as needed. With a mindset of drive and determination and strategy, the future is bright for those who are willing to seize it.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Melanie Marten: If I had the ability to pick any business superpower, it would be the power to transform PRontheGO into an advanced technology that could revolutionize the way entrepreneurs and businesses conduct their public relations.
By leveraging cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing, PRontheGO could offer actionable insights and growth hacking strategies that are tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals.
This would empower founders to take ownership of their PR efforts, increase their visibility, and ultimately help them to achieve their business objectives.
With this superpower, we could streamline the entire PR process, making it more efficient, effective, and scalable. We could create custom PR strategies for each client, track their progress, and analyze the impact of our efforts in real-time.
By integrating PRontheGO with other advanced technologies like blockchain and the internet of things, we could create an entire ecosystem of business tools that work seamlessly together, providing entrepreneurs with everything they need to succeed.
Overall, my superpower would be to transform PRontheGO into an advanced technology that could help entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to achieve their full potential, by providing them with the best possible public relations strategies and tools.
