Company: Best Online Cabinets
We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Josh Qian: I am the COO and Co-Founder of Best Online Cabinets. I am an expert in kitchen remodeling and home improvement with 20 years of experience.
Business man, employer, designer, cabinet maven, father… any of these would be accurate descriptions. Best Online Cabinets is the only place to buy RTA cabinets for seriously interested parties. Since its conception, we’ve been blessed to see only support and growth from our amazing customers, and that’s usually a pretty good indication that we’re doing something right.
How do you personally define success, and how has that definition evolved throughout your career?
Josh Qian: For me, success has always been about creating value—not just for our customers but for our team and the community as well. Early on, I defined success mainly in terms of sales figures and growth metrics. However, as I’ve gained more experience, I’ve come to realize that true success is about building lasting relationships and fostering a positive impact. It’s about delivering quality products that genuinely improve people’s lives and creating a work environment where my team feels valued. The evolution in my thinking has shifted my focus from just numbers to a more holistic view of what it means to thrive as a business and a leader.
What lasting impact do you hope to leave through your business, and what steps are you taking to build that legacy?
Josh Qian: I want to create a legacy where people feel inspired to invest in their homes as a reflection of their values and aspirations. It’s about more than just cabinets; it’s about helping individuals express their unique style and enhance their everyday lives. To achieve this, I prioritize building strong relationships with our customers, listening to their needs, and continuously improving our offerings based on their feedback. I also emphasize education, providing resources and guidance that empower homeowners to make informed decisions. By cultivating a community around our brand that values creativity and collaboration, I aim to leave behind a lasting influence, encouraging others to dream big and take pride in their living spaces.
Beyond financial success, what initiatives—whether in mentorship, sustainability, or social responsibility—are you most proud of?
Josh Qian: I’m particularly proud of our mentorship program for aspiring craftsmen and women in the cabinetry industry. We’ve created opportunities for hands-on training and skill development and helped to nurture the next generation of talent. This initiative supports individual growth and strengthens the industry as a whole.
What lessons have you learned about leadership that you wish more entrepreneurs understood early on?
Josh Qian: One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about leadership is the importance of listening. Many entrepreneurs dive into their vision and forget that understanding their team’s perspectives and ideas can lead to better outcomes. I wish more leaders recognized that collaboration often breeds innovation. Embrace vulnerability. Admitting when you don’t have all the answers fosters a culture of trust and encourages open communication. Leaders who model this behavior set the tone for their team, showing that success is about both results and well-being.
Looking ahead, how do you see your industry evolving, and what role do you hope to play in shaping its future?
Josh Qian: I see our industry evolving towards greater integration of technology and personalization. As homeowners increasingly seek customized solutions, I believe we’ll see more innovations in design software and virtual reality tools that allow customers to visualize their spaces in real time. I hope to play a key role in this evolution by continually adopting and implementing cutting-edge technologies that enhance the customer experience.
