We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
James Barlow: My name is James Barlow and I’m the founder of Triumph Technology Solutions. As an engineering professional, I’ve gained valuable experience working as an independent contractor, focusing on delivering innovative AWS solutions to my customers. As my reputation grew, I realized I could make a greater impact by expanding my services and reach.
That’s when I founded Triumph Technology Solutions – an AWS premier services partner. As an all-in AWS partner, we provide top-tier services to mid-market, startup, and enterprise clients. Our team works closely with our clients to understand their unique needs and create tailored solutions that deliver real value.
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished at Triumph Technology Solutions, and I’m excited about the future. Our team is dedicated to staying ahead of the curve and delivering the latest and greatest AWS solutions to our clients.
In the past year, what is the greatest business achievement you’d like to celebrate with your team? Please share the details of that success.
James Barlow: I’m proud to say that one of the greatest accomplishments my team and I have achieved is becoming an AWS premier service partner.
This prestigious status is not easily earned, as it requires meeting a variety of stringent criteria such as having a certain number of projects under our belt, obtaining a range of certifications, demonstrating high competency across multiple practices, and maintaining a consistently high level of customer satisfaction.
Securing this top-tier partnership was truly a team effort, and we’re excited to have received recognition from both AWS leadership and the partner organizations. We take pride in delivering exceptional services to our clients and ensuring their success on the AWS platform, and this achievement reinforces our commitment to excellence.
Quiet quitting, The Great Resignation, are an ongoing trend causing many businesses to struggle keeping talent engaged and motivated. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. In your experience, what keeps employees happy? And how are adapting to the current shift we see?
James Barlow: At Triumph, we understand that one of the most crucial factors in maintaining employee satisfaction and retention is having a leadership team that actively listens and responds to their needs.
We believe that this approach sets us apart from other organizations, where employees may not have the opportunity to share their perspectives with executive leadership.
We prioritize creating a positive work environment that fosters a healthy work-life balance and supports our employees’ overall well-being. This means ensuring that our team members are not overworked and have access to ample PTO, as well as competitive benefits and policies.
However, we recognize that these factors alone are not enough to create a truly fulfilling work experience. That’s why we take a holistic approach to supporting our employees. We actively seek feedback and ideas from our team, and we make sure that their input is incorporated into decision-making processes.
We also prioritize professional development, offering opportunities for growth and learning to help our employees achieve their career goals.
Ultimately, we believe that creating a supportive, engaged work environment is the key to our team’s success and happiness. We’re committed to continuing to listen to our employees, prioritize their needs, and cultivate a culture of collaboration and respect at Triumph.
Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?
James Barlow: At Triumph, we’ve been a fully remote company since our inception, and this has given us a significant advantage in recruiting top talent from around the world.
With the rise of remote work as a standard practice, we’re no longer limited by the location of our physical office. This has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for us, as we’re able to connect with talented professionals from diverse backgrounds and regions.
As the competition for skilled workers becomes increasingly fierce, we recognize the importance of being competitive in our recruitment efforts. However, our ability to tap into a global talent pool has been a game-changer for us, and we’ve been able to attract and retain some of the best talent in the industry.
From a customer perspective, the remote work model also offers a unique benefit. By eliminating the need for a physical office, they’re able to reduce overhead costs and create a more streamlined, agile business model. This, in turn, creates new opportunities for us in the market.
We’re thrilled to see the positive impact of our remote work model, particularly in the startup and mid-market space. As we continue to grow and expand our reach, we remain committed to leveraging the power of remote work to connect with the best talent and deliver exceptional solutions to our clients.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
James Barlow: The main challenge we’re facing right now is the macroeconomic uncertainty that’s affecting businesses across the board. Many organizations are hesitant to invest in new projects or make large capital expenditures due to this uncertainty.
However, we believe that investing in innovation and technology is more important now than ever before. By embracing the cloud and other emerging technologies, businesses can operate more efficiently and effectively, which will ultimately lead to long-term success.
Cloud computing offers a more flexible and cost-effective model than data centers, with pay-as-you-go pricing that eliminates the need for large capital expenditures. This can be especially beneficial for businesses facing data center refreshes or other significant expenses.
Our focus right now is on helping our customers understand the benefits of cloud computing and other innovative technologies. By shifting their mindset and embracing these tools, they can achieve greater agility, efficiency, and cost savings over the long term.
While macroeconomic uncertainties may present challenges in the short term, we’re confident that by investing in technology and innovation, businesses can position themselves for success in the years to come.
2020, 2021, 2022 threw a lot of curve balls into businesses on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past years, how can businesses thrive in 2023? What lessons have you learned and what advice would you share?
James Barlow: The past few years have presented a wide range of challenges for businesses across the globe. As a cloud-based company, we were not immune to these challenges, but we did see a significant increase in demand due to the pandemic.
As many businesses were forced to shift to remote work and digital operations, there was a corresponding surge in the need for cloud-based solutions and innovative technologies.
During this time, we were able to scale up and grow exponentially, thanks to our ability to meet the needs of businesses looking to adapt to the new normal. We are proud of the role we played in helping organizations navigate this difficult time and remain competitive in a rapidly changing business landscape.
Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic, we remain committed to continued growth and innovation. We believe that cloud-based technologies and other emerging solutions will be essential for businesses looking to remain competitive in the years to come, and we are excited to continue playing a leading role in this dynamic and rapidly evolving industry.
What does “success” in the year to come mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
James Barlow: Success in 2023 means achieving a balance between my personal and professional life. Personally, I would love to spend quality time with my growing family, including my wife, my young son, and the new addition expected this summer.
Taking at least one vacation together as a family would be a fantastic way to create lasting memories.
Professionally, success in 2023 means continuing the impressive growth trajectory of 150% compared to last year, which we are currently on track for. However, it also means maintaining a positive work environment where our team feels supported and valued.
As a leader, I want to ensure that we are providing opportunities for personal and professional development, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. If we can achieve these goals while continuing to grow, it will be a winning year for me and my team.
