Expert Tips to Identify Authentic Sneakers and Avoid Costly Counterfeits

It may be illegal to purchase counterfeit designer goods in countries like the United States, but that doesn’t stop these products from remaining in circulation. Sadly, counterfeit manufacturers have become increasingly good at what they do.

More than likely, this is down to new technologies that make it easier to produce fake goods. This can make it extremely difficult for customers to distinguish between counterfeit and real goods.

At first, the dangers of purchasing counterfeit designer goods might not seem that important, however, there are quite serious economic impacts, financial implications, legal implications, and general health and safety risks.

On the back of recent news regarding one buyer acquiring 38 pairs of fake Nike sneakers, we spoke to Josh from Captain Creps about identifying authentic sneakers and avoiding costly counterfeits.

Josh kindly provided us with a detailed analysis of a specific shoe (Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2. We have taken his analysis and condensed it into a list of things you need to look out for if you want to avoid purchasing counterfeit sneakers.

What Did Captain Creps Have To Say?

When we spoke to Josh about how to identify authentic sneakers and how to avoid counterfeit goods, one of the most notable things he told us was how important it is to stay up to date.

In his own words, Josh told us to “remember that counterfeiters are constantly updating their techniques, so it’s essential to stay informed about the latest versions and details of the genuine product to avoid purchasing an illegal and counterfeit product.”

How To Identify Authentic Sneakers

We’ll now look at the key aspects you need to check when determining the authenticity of a pair of sneakers. To help you understand each aspect, we’ll focus on the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 sneakers that Josh used in his analysis.

1. Shape And Silhouette

One of the best things you can do to identify authentic sneakers is familiarize yourself with their silhouette and shape. Counterfeit sneakers tend to have slightly different shapes or proportions.

Look for a distinctive midsole shape, a well-curved heel, and the overall profile of the shoe.

2. Primeknit Pattern

High-end sneakers like the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 have a unique Primeknit pattern that most counterfeiters struggle to recreate. With the Boost 350 V2s, incorrect stitching patterns usually ruin the shape of the sneaker.

You can compare the pair you’re trying to authenticate with images from Adidas. Look closely for any inconsistencies, deviations, and irregularities.

3. Heel Tab

Every pair of authentic sneakers has a heel tab that is a specific shape and size. Therefore, checking the heel tab is one of the most effective ways to identify a counterfeit sneaker. You should check the tab is in the right place and make sure it’s the right size.

The heel tab on the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 should have even spacing between the stitches.

4. Midsole And Outsole

Checking the midsole pattern for any inconsistencies and color discrepancies is another surefire way to spot a fake product. You should also look for differences in the outsole’s transparency.

Sneakers like the Boost 350 V2 typically have a unique pattern that’s hard to replicate.

5. Boost Material

With the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 sneakers, the Boost material on the sole should be soft, responsive, and feature a unique texture with small, irregular pellets. Fake Boost 350 V2s are usually harder and less comfortable.

6. Stitching

Carefully check the stitching on your sneaker because authentic products will have precise and tight stitching. Counterfeits usually have a looser or uneven stitching pattern that doesn’t quite look right.

7. Size Tag

A great way to catch a counterfeit product out is by checking the size tag inside the sneaker. If the font looks strange or there are inconsistencies and deviations from the standard manufacturer sizing format, you probably have a counterfeit sneaker.

8. Box Label

You can use the box your sneakers come in to confirm authenticity too. The label on your sneaker box should have accurate information concerning sizing, style code, and color. Counterfeits might have incorrect information, the wrong barcode, or misspellings.

9. Insoles

Moat sneakers feature a logo on the insoles. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 has clear and well-defined Yeezy and Adidas logos printed on them. Fake sneakers usually have a blurred or smudged logo.

Final Thoughts

Spotting counterfeit sneakers isn’t always easy. There are lots of different things we have to look out for and check. Luckily, with Captain Creps help, we now know the key things to look out for when identifying authentic sneakers.

Generate real-time reports

An LMS that can generate real-time reports is a valuable tool for tracking progress and identifying areas of improvement. This feature can help you stay on top of your game and ensure your team is on track.

Seeing how employees are progressing in their learning can help you identify any roadblocks they may face. You can also use real-time reporting to monitor

Export data into different formats

One of the LMS features often overlooked is exporting data into different formats. This might not seem like a big deal, but it can be a lifesaver when you need to share data with someone who doesn’t have the same LMS platform.

Exporting data into PDF, Excel, or CSV format means you can share data with anyone, regardless of what LMS they are using. This can be a huge time-saver and make your life a lot easier.

Schedule reports

The ability to schedule reports is an important feature of any learning management system (LMS). This allows businesses to save time by automatically generating and distributing reports regularly.

Scheduling reports can be a real-time-saver for businesses, especially those with large amounts of data to process. Businesses can free up their employees to focus on other tasks by automating the report generation process.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the value of comprehensive reports and analytics should not be underestimated. They provide a wealth of data that can be used to improve the learning experience for all students. By understanding how students use the LMS, what resources they are accessing, and how they interact, educators can make informed decisions about supporting their students’ needs.
