Cuautemoc Weber is a seasoned tech executive with over 20 years of experience leading teams across the globe, working with all the technological layers of the internet.
His responsibilities have spanned deep telecommunications infrastructure while working in Alcatel (now Nokia), to browsers and mobile internet during his tenure as VP of Mobile and Head of Crypto at Opera.
Here he was responsible for Mobile products business development within Opera Browser, including Web3 spearheading solutions, encompassing more than 350M MAU globally across several leading mobile browser applications. As early as 2017, Temoc was leading Opera’s exploration of the crypto realm.
Temoc is passionate about harnessing technological innovation to drive a positive sea change across industries, for the betterment of humanity. He is energized by exciting new business models and exploring synergies with his network, as a means of extracting more value from technology and pushing boundaries.
Currently, he is Co-founder and CEO of Gateway.fm, the first truly decentralized blockchain infrastructure node provider. Under his stewardship, Gateway.fm has experienced rapid growth, raising $4.6 million USD in a combined seed funding round led by Lemniscap.
The funding has been earmarked to accelerate product development and the provision of advanced staking services.
Temoc is proud of the stunning early success the Gateway.fm team have achieved, especially in such a short period. He views the company on the crest of a wave to decentralize the core layer of public blockchains.
Alongside Igor Mandrigin, his Gateway co-founder and CTO, Temoc feels that the original spirit of decentralization that instigated the Web3 movement has been undercut by limited access to scalable infrastructure.
With Gateway.fm, Temoc wants to provide reliable node infrastructure, best-in-class validators and robust dev tooling to help Web3 projects scale at pace. He also recognises the importance of these solutions to enticing traditional financial institutions and enterprises to explore blockchain technology with purpose.
Having surveyed the wider blockchain ecosystem for a number of years, Temoc recognised how the node infrastructure landscape was being largely dominated by a few select industry players. In today’s multi-blockchain environment, Temoc believes there is a strong market demand for infrastructure products and services supporting multiple blockchains.
With his team, he is on a mission to democratize access to scalable Web3 infrastructure, and disrupt the status quo node infrastructure landscape.
With unrivalled infrastructure knowledge and far-reaching core development experience, his team is serving the leading DeFi solutions in the decentralized space. Gateway has received strong market validation for its ‘Grow’, ‘Access’ and ‘Jumpstart’ solutions from a range of renowned industry heavyweights including Gnosis, Ethereum Foundation, NEAR, Polygon Labs, as well as 1inch.
As a leading Web3 infrastructure company, Gateway.fm is focused on building decentralized RPC solutions that don’t rely on centralized services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Gateway Grow solution is built for institutional staking validators across several Proof-of-Stake (POS) chains like Ethereum, Gnosis and IXO.
Gateway Access is the company’s dedicated, cost-effective RPC node service built for scale, which currently supports ETH, Polygon zkEVM, Fantom, NEAR and Gnosis and several L2 chains about to be supported and launched later this month.
Gateway Jumpstart enables new blockchains, appchains and protocols to accelerate mainnet launch and drive user adoption, helping projects bring their blockchains to a production grade level.
In addition to his technical prowess, Temoc prides himself on being a caring mentor and leader. He takes the time to coach and guide his team members, empowering them to pursue upskilling opportunities and chart their own professional growth trajectory.
His hands-on approach is a source of motivation for his team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration from within.
