Each year, over 23,000 young adults age out of the foster care system in the U.S., often without a dependable support network. Many are left to navigate adulthood alone, with 20% experiencing homelessness as soon as they turn 18. By age 24, only half manage to secure stable employment, and fewer than 3% ever earn a college degree. Yet, despite these obstacles, 70% of foster youth still aspire to attend college and create better futures for themselves. Footprints Forward is dedicated to turning those aspirations into reality.
How Footprints Forward is Changing Lives
The foundation focuses on four key pillars to support foster youth as they transition into adulthood:
- Mentorship & Guidance – Pairing young adults with Albatross members who provide career advice, professional connections, and life mentorship.
- Education & Career Support – Offering scholarships, vocational training, and job placement assistance to help them build a sustainable future.
