Beverly Price, founder of Nastava Jewelry, is an intuitive designer whose custom creations reflect the journey of self-empowerment, self-expression, and beauty. Inspired by the elements, Beverly lets the internationally sourced stones speak to her when crafting her bespoke pieces. Through her methodology and endless style options, the artisan jewelry she creates energizes and connects to her clients, reflecting their true self while empowering them to try different looks.
With over fifteen years of design experience rather than following trends, Beverly lets discovery fuel her creativity as a part of her design process, using semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and Swarovski© crystals. With an MBA and a background as a leader in the financial services industry, Beverly didn’t accessorize, but instead focused on dressing professionally in a man’s world. When she hired a stylist to play with her look, she found that she could be professional, while making a statement.
She went from self-doubt to self-love, and evokes the same transformation for her clients, making them feel beautiful, confident, and proud of the woman they’ve become. Beverly’s custom creations have been shown at Columbia Fashion Week, Greenville Fashion Week, and Charlotte Fashion Week and worn by celebrities such as Vivica Fox, Lisa Ling, and Cokie Roberts. As a homebody at heart, Beverly enjoys living by the beach in South Carolina with her family and four dogs.

We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Beverly Price: I’m a transformational coach and host and founder of Her-Self-Expression Podcast, providing knowledge, support, and insight to help women on their journey to self-empowerment, so they can take on the world. I’m also the founder of Nastava Jewelry, where my custom creations reflect the journey of self-empowerment, self-expression, and beauty.
I’m on a mission to help 100,000 women to live the powerful and fabulous lives they are made for. I inspire women to use self-expression on the inside and outside to develop self-empowerment, so they can ultimately become the women they long to be. Each episode brings my listeners industry-leading guests, growth strategies, and actionable takeaways that will help my audience on their self-empowerment journey.
With an MBA and a background as a leader in the financial services industry, I come from a history of making myself small in order to make others feel safe. While in the corporate world, I didn’t even accessorize my attire, but instead focused on fitting into a man’s world. When I finally embraced my ability to own my power and make a statement, I went from self-loathing to self-love. My transformation was apparent in both my exterior appearance and my internal confidence, and this is the transformation that I support my clients in creating. For over 25 years, I have guided coaching and strategy sessions for women, where I deliver the proven steps to guide them on their total journey, while providing industry-renowned resources to help them achieve their goals.
Many podcasts serve women entrepreneurs, women’s fashion, or emotional issues. However, Her Self-Expression is the first of its kind to bring an all-encompassing approach to creating a powerful environment for all women to have one source to support their overall growth. When I’m not creating a new business, coaching, podcasting or designing statement jewelry, I enjoy living by the beach in South Carolina with my husband and four dogs.
2020 and 2021 threw a lot of curve balls into business on a global scale. Based on the experience gleaned in the past couple years, how can businesses thrive in 2022? What lessons have you learned?
Beverly Price: I’ve learned so many lessons. First, believe in yourself no matter what, because if this goes away, nothing is possible. So many of us lost self-confidence and belief in ourselves during the pandemic. This needs to change. Second, be flexible and ready to pivot at a moment’s notice.
For example, if brick and mortar business is slowing, investigate online options, or if one product line is slowing, investigate alternative lines or a re-invention of an existing line. Third, diversify – look at having multiple presences – such as brick and mortar and online and learn the latest technology for communication.
Always have contingency plans. The pandemic snuck up on many businesses, and we need to be prepared for the future (and present day, too) for environmental changes which are out of our control.
The pandemic seems to keep on disrupting the economy, what should businesses focus on in 2022? What advice would you share?
Beverly Price: Being flexible is key, specifically learning to shift direction at a moment’s notice. Have contingency plans for worst-case outcomes even if it doesn’t seem like the worst will happen. No one envisioned that a pandemic could impact us like it did, but it did. Many people were stuck with no alternative channels.
How has the pandemic changed your industry and how have you adapted?
Beverly Price: Since I’m in several industries, I think the biggest adaptation is shifting to a strong online presence, as well as using video communication strategies. It impacted the jewelry business because women were not going out and dressing up. They were confined at home. So not only were they not going shopping, but they weren’t dressing up to leave the house.
With coaching, the opposite was true. With a virtual coaching offering, people were eager to recreate themselves, feel better, and come up with a plan of action.
What advice do you wish you received when the pandemic started and what do you intend on improving in 2022?
Beverly Price: Online presence, social media, and email marketing are huge players. I think using experts is worth the investment rather than trying to do it yourself, unless you are an expert yourself. I learned that I couldn’t keep up with the algorithm changes on Facebook, and my email copy wasn’t strong enough. I wish I had used experts from the start. The expense is worth the investment if you are serious about growing your business.
Online business surged higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for 2022?
Beverly Price: I expect them to keep growing. Zoom has created a phenomenon. For example, I use zoom for coaching sessions and jewelry consultations. They make it possible to connect with people regardless of geography while keeping the personal touch.
How many hours a day do you spend in front of a screen?
Beverly Price: I spend quite a bit. Between coaching, jewelry consultations, and recording my podcast, I would say it’s 75-85% of my professional time.
The majority of executives use stories to persuade and communicate in the workplace. Can you share with our readers examples of how you implement that in your business to communicate effectively with your team?
Beverly Price: For my coaching business, the first thing I do is share the story of my own journey so they can see that I am a human being with strengths and weaknesses. I think this makes me more approachable. For my jewelry business, I share the story of what the moment was that I decided to sell my jewelry and become an entrepreneur.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as the real challenge right now?
Beverly Price: One challenge may be a recurrence of the confines of the pandemic since infection rates are increasing with different variants. Another might be the ability to find good staff. A third is the need to recreate company cultures that are more employee-centric, positive, and opportunity-driven – this seems to be why people are leaving jobs.
In 2022, what are you most interested in learning about? Crypto, NFTs, online marketing, or any other skill sets? Please share your motivations.
Beverly Price: I’m interested in learning more about online marketing and various online technologies such as live streaming. All of my business are online, so the key success factor is online marketing and sales. Live streaming is another way to communicate with the customer as the ever-changing landscape of social media continues to diversify.
A record 4.4 million Americans left their jobs in September in 2021, accelerating a trend that has become known as the Great Resignation. 47% of people plan to leave their job during 2022. Most are leaving because of their boss or their company culture. 82% of people feel unheard, undervalued and misunderstood in the workplace. Do you think leaders see the data and think “that’s not me – I’m not that boss they don’t want to work for? What changes do you think need to happen?
Beverly Price: I think many employers will go on doing what they’ve always done. I’ve seen companies that I worked for discount employee survey results that told them exactly what the problems were. I think the companies that will survive and thrive will make the adjustments, but I think this can be harder for large companies to move quickly.
I think one of the biggest issues is executive leadership that doesn’t have empathy and people skills. Many can be very successful at the technical and product side of their business but not the people side. With executive teams full of technical–only members, there isn’t a lot of hope for change.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Beverly Price: I have been doing transformational work, leading and supporting women for over 25 years, and I will continue to do that.
My superpower would be to help women successfully travel the road from self-expression to self-empowerment, to claim their voices, eliminate fear from old stereotypes, and to embrace success in whatever form that looks like to them. I think women have been ingrained to survive in a patriarchal world, and it’s time that they stepped out of those stereotypical roles and damaging labels to define their own success.
What does “success” in 2022 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision.
Beverly Price: My vision for my professional success is to see 100,000 women embrace self-empowerment to become the women they want to be.
My vision for my personal life is to continue to have a rich and fulfilling relationship with my husband and family, enjoy life in our home, at the beach, and feel secure financially.
