We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: In a world where dreams are often considered distant and unattainable, my story stands as a testament to the remarkable potential of the American dream. A journey that began in 2016 when I moved to California, my path to success has been marked by determination, hard work, and the unwavering support of my loved ones.
My journey embodies the quintessential immigrant experience—a narrative of resilience and ambition. Armed with a relentless work ethic, I embarked on my American adventure, driven by a burning desire to create something meaningful. I love a challenge, rapid development, and doing something super complicated.
Upon arriving in California, I faced the daunting task of building a life from the ground up. With each challenge, I learned, adapted, and persisted. My entrepreneurial spirit was soon recognized, leading to a co-ownership opportunity within a year and a half.
By the end of 2017, I had taken the plunge into full-fledged entrepreneurship. There was stagnation in the previous company, that’s why I started active actions.
From the outset of my California adventure, my entrepreneurial spirit was ignited. I understood that beneath the radiant sun and sprawling landscapes, there existed a realm of extraordinary opportunities for those who dared to seize them. With an unwavering determination, I set out to create the ALI Group—a collective of enterprises designed to support and uplift newcomers venturing onto unfamiliar shores.
At the heart of this endeavor stands Ali Trader—a dynamic platform where I generously share my wealth of experience in online sales and business acumen. It is here that fledgling entrepreneurs find a haven of education, a sanctuary of knowledge essential for a triumphant start. My goal is to help others navigate the intricacies of trading and harness the potential of vast online platform.
There is another direction that I am actively developing – the plumbing company United Plumbing. From modest origins, our company has flourished into a symbol of quality and trust. For more than a quarter-century, we’ve diligently honed our expertise, becoming a beacon of reliability in California’s plumbing industry.
For me, the ALI Group isn’t just a series of ventures; it’s a calling, a mission that goes beyond profit margins. By empowering others, we weave the fabric of a stronger society for all. Through ALI Group, I aim to do more than just provide tools; I aim to facilitate growth, foster adaptation, and pave the way for others to achieve their American dreams.
Behind every successful entrepreneur lies a supportive network, and for me, this network is my family. My wife helped in difficult moments and sold street food for my further development. Facing financial hurdles, my wife’s unwavering belief in my vision fueled our collective determination to succeed. We embraced a fresh start, learning and evolving together, while I juggled the demands of building my businesses and acquiring new skills.
My exceptional negotiation skills became a cornerstone of my success. I seamlessly transitioned from an employee to a business owner, persuading others to see and invest in my vision. I retrained migrants, helped them to adopt in California, and regularly upgraded myself. This versatility and willingness to adapt allowed me to navigate challenges and consistently elevate my ventures.
With a family of four children and my supportive wife, I draw daily inspiration from their presence. Beyond personal aspirations, my commitment to the environment and ecology is reflected in my business choices. All my companies embrace digitalization and energy-saving technologies, a testament to my responsibility towards the planet’s well-being.
My journey from a newcomer to a successful entrepreneur is a vivid reminder that the American dream is attainable through determination and the unwavering support of loved ones.
My story encapsulates the spirit of innovation, resilience, and adaptability that define the entrepreneurial landscape. As I continue to carve my path, one built on hard work and unwavering commitment, my journey serves as an inspiration to all those aspiring to turn their dreams into reality.
If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: If I were in an elevator with Warren Buffett, I would describe my company, the ALI Group, as a dynamic collective of enterprises dedicated to empowering newcomers and aspiring entrepreneurs.
What truly sets us apart from others is our unwavering commitment to not just share knowledge, but to foster growth, adaptation, and the realization of the American dream for individuals navigating unfamiliar shores.
What advice do you wish you had received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: The advice I wish I had received when I started my business journey is the importance of finding a balance between ambition and patience. While it’s crucial to have big dreams and set high goals, it’s equally important to recognize that success takes time and consistent effort.
I would have benefited from understanding that there will be challenges and setbacks along the way, and it’s essential to remain steadfast and adaptable in the face of adversity. Patience allows for thoughtful decision-making, building strong foundations, and nurturing lasting relationships.
As for improvements in the next quarter, I plan to explore strategic partnerships that can expand our reach and provide a broader range of resources to our community. By incorporating user feedback and expanding our network, I aim to create an even more valuable and impactful learning environment for aspiring entrepreneurs within the next quarter.
Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: Indeed, the surge in online business has transformed various aspects of our lives, from remote work to virtual meetings and online shopping. Looking ahead to the year to come, my expectations remain positive for the continued growth of online business across sectors.
The shift toward digital engagement, convenience, and efficiency is likely to persist, driven by advancements in technology and evolving consumer preferences.
While some sectors like the plumbing business within the ALI Group may not transition entirely to remote work due to the nature of the service sector, we still intend to leverage the online surge by enhancing our digital presence and customer engagement.
We’ll focus on streamlining appointment bookings, providing virtual consultations where possible, and offering online resources for DIY solutions. By combining digital convenience with our in-person service excellence, we aim to provide a holistic and responsive experience for our customers.
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as THE real challenge right now?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: The real challenge is the transformation of a small family business into a significant enterprise that not only thrives financially but also serves as a platform for migrants to achieve their American dreams. This journey requires strategic expansion, scaling operations, and establishing a robust support system for newcomers.
Balancing growth with maintaining the core values and personalized approach of a family business while empowering migrants to succeed presents a multifaceted challenge that demands innovative business strategies, inclusive leadership, and a deep understanding of the aspirations and needs of the community you’re serving.
In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: In my experience, one of the most underestimated aspects of running a company is the profound impact that a supportive and cohesive company culture can have on overall success. Often, the significance of fostering a positive work environment, where employees feel valued, motivated, and connected, can be overlooked.
An example from my journey is when I transitioned from being an employee to a business owner. I initially focused heavily on the operational and financial aspects of the company, assuming that those factors alone would drive success.
However, I soon realized that the morale and well-being of my team were equally crucial. When I began prioritizing team-building, open communication, and recognizing their contributions, I witnessed a notable increase in productivity, innovation, and overall satisfaction.
This experience taught me that while strategic decisions and financial management are vital, a harmonious and motivated team can elevate a company to new heights. The underestimated power of a positive company culture can significantly impact employee retention, customer satisfaction, and even business growth, ultimately influencing the bottom line in ways that might not be immediately obvious but are undeniably impactful.
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?
Bekhruz Nagzibekov: If I were to choose a business superpower, it would be the ability to foresee market trends with uncanny accuracy. Imagine having the foresight to predict the next big shifts in consumer preferences, technological advancements, and industry disruptions.
I would put this superpower into practice by strategically positioning my businesses ahead of these trends, ensuring that we are early adopters of emerging technologies and pioneers in innovative solutions.
With this ability, I could make informed decisions that not only keep my ventures competitive but also allow me to create products and services that address future needs before they even arise.
By being at the forefront of market changes, I could offer unparalleled value to my customers, continuously adapt to the evolving landscape, and maintain a reputation for visionary leadership within the business community.
