We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: My name is Dr. Arne Jeroschewski, the Founder and CEO of Parcel Perform, the leading delivery experience platform for businesses covering 950+ logistics carriers worldwide.

Before founding Parcel Perform, I served as Vice President for Business Development at DHL eCommerce Asia Pacific, where I led the development of e-commerce logistics products and market entries throughout Asia.

Before that, I was Vice President at Singapore Post’s SP eCommerce, responsible for the B2C e-commerce businesses, including vPost and Omigo. In 2012, I was the founding CEO of ZALORA, South East Asia’s leading fashion e-commerce player across eight markets.

I was a long-time management consultant at McKinsey & Company, working on technology projects in Europe, Africa, and Asia. I’m also a trained economist with a Ph.D. in regulatory economics.

Parcel Perform is a team of logistics and data experts setting the bar for the delivery experience from pre-checkout to returns.

By harnessing the power of data and integrations, our platform helps businesses improve customer lifetime value, lower logistics costs, and advance customer service operations, fuelling growth and expansion.

In recent years, we’ve helped some of the world’s most forward-thinking enterprise clients, such as Decathlon, Snocks, and Nespresso, achieve their business ambitions. We are also proud to support Quiet Platform’s goal to revolutionize the logistics industry with our industry-leading logistics data foundation.

With Parcel Perform, e-commerce businesses can make every order, every shipment, and every loyal customer count.

If you were in an elevator with Warren Buffet, how would you describe your company, your services or products? What makes your company different from others? What is your company’s biggest strength?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: With Parcel Perform, we can make every e-commerce order, every shipment, and every loyal customer count. We are the leading data and delivery experience platform. We are a team of logistics and data experts setting the bar for the delivery experience from pre-checkout to returns.

Our competitive advantage is that our product is customizable, as we believe in enabling e-commerce businesses to grow while streamlining operations and saving costs. We provide the most comprehensive mapping and data analysis of e-commerce logistics data with enterprise-level features that forms the base of all our products.

Our data is our strength, we integrate with the most number of carriers in the industry: 1000+ carriers covering freight, express, postal, and last mile providers. By harnessing the power of data and integrations, we help e-commerce businesses improve customer lifetime value, lower logistics costs, and advance customer service operations, fuelling growth and expansion.

In the past year, what is the greatest business achievement you’d like to celebrate with your team? Please share the details of that success.

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: We opened our first US office in April 2022. Michael Bogart, VP of Sales, Americas leads our US team with the aim to help e-commerce businesses in the United States, Canada, and Latin America achieve their customer lifetime value and delivery experience goals.

In October, we achieved another milestone for us in the US market: Our data partnership with Quiet Platforms. With this collaboration, we enable greater transparency and efficiency for retailers and brands within the entire Quiet Platforms supply chain network, enabling greater logistics visibility for millions of parcels and shipments throughout the region.

The concept of co-opetition and collaboration is one of the most exciting movements in e-commerce logistics to date. We are proud to play a crucial role in Quiet Platforms fulfillment ecosystem and provide much-needed data support in their plans to revolutionize the industry.

What advice do you wish you received when you started your business journey and what do you intend on improving in the next quarter?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: Building a business is a learning journey. As much as you start with much conviction initially, the biggest learnings will come over time.

One will inevitably be exposed to many different market environments and situations and must be ever-ready to adapt. Progress is not a straight path, Not in business, self-development, or life.

Lastly, being a CEO is a marathon, not a sprint (or a very long one). So for all aspiring entrepreneurs, get ready to enjoy the process but always make it sustainable with family and health.

Online business keeps on surging higher than ever, B2B, B2C, online shopping, virtual meetings, remote work, Zoom medical consultations, what are your expectations for the year to come and how are you capitalizing on the tidal wave?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: From where we stand, we see a global e-commerce market demanding an innovative end-to-end platform that can support the entire post-purchase experience from checkout to fulfillment and returns. Customer expectations are rising exponentially, and 2022 showed that this trend continues regardless of global economic circumstances.

In our recent data and research findings on US and APAC consumers during the 2022 peak season via our community and insights platform, Parcel Monitor, over 70% cite poor customer service and extended shipping times as reasons for not returning. Additionally, 74% would not recommend merchants with a smooth buying process but a poor delivery experience!

Repeat customers account for 40% of an average online store’s revenue, and it’s essential to have a strong post-purchase strategy to drive repeat engagement, encourage referrals, and generate more revenue.

With this in mind, we are doubling down on our business strategy to help merchants, marketplaces, and carriers worldwide to achieve precisely that in 2023 with exciting solutions around shipment arrival predictions and product returns because we know that every order counts.

Christopher Hitchens, an American journalist, is quoted as saying that “everyone has a book in them” Have you written a book? If so, please share with us details about it. If you haven’t, what book would you like to write and how would you like it to benefit the readers?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: I received my Ph.D. in regulatory economics from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany back in 2009. My published thesis was titled “The struggle for dynamic efficiency in telecommunications regulation – Analyzing challenges imposed by Next-Generation Access Networks.”

In your experience, what tends to be the most underestimated part of running a company? Can you share an example?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: As a SaaS business, two of our main competitive differentiators are our platform and the services we offer. We recognize that we have to be nimble to adapt quickly to our customers’ constantly evolving business requirements.

In parallel, we must strive hard to achieve results for our customers and grow our reputation as a customer-centric business partner in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving industry.

The key to doing this is having an excited and capable people/team; therefore, culture is essential all the way.

Culture tends to be the most underestimated. It’s not just organizing social events for employees or celebrating work anniversaries, and it’s defining who we are as a company.

Parcel Perform is a team of passionate data, tech, and logistics experts with an almost 50-50 gender ratio, represented by 14 nationalities, speaking 22 languages.

Investing in diversity and culture has served us well over the past seven years. It will continue to enable us to think critically and find the best solution within a diverse global market context.

On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice?

Dr. Arne Jeroschewski: Being a CEO of a global company such as Parcel Perform does require occasional night shifts, business trips, and long hours, especially when working with customers and colleagues on the other side of the world.

Hence, I would pick the ability to have unlimited energy and dexterity to empower myself even further! The result: No more jet lag, being able to work when you need to, and sleep whenever you want!
