Thank you so much for doing this with us! Our readers want to know, what exactly are NFTs, and how do they impact our society?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: NFTs are a big part of the Web3 iteration, Web3 means the world wide web-based on the blockchain technology, which incorporates the concepts including decentralization and token-based economics. We could call it the new generation of the internet.
NFT means a nonfungible token, which is a digital asset where there is only one copy on the blockchain. They can be used to represent pieces of art, music, virtual worlds, basically anything introduced through the blockchain. As Web3 is being developed, NFTs are more and more adopted and incorporated into it. Many international companies have already made their NFT collection and are investing heavily in this market. It’s becoming clear – NFTs are here to stay, because of their endless possibilities.
So what is the connection between NFTs and cryptocurrency anyway?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: NFTs are based, stored, and built on blockchains that cryptocurrencies are made on (e. g. ETH, Algo, Tezos). The majority of the market represents Ethereum blockchain based NFTs. The only difference is that NFTs can represent anything a user desires.
Are NFTs the future of art and collectibles?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: Undoubtedly. “The Kiss” from Gustav Klimt has just been made into a collection of NFTs. NFTs are also very well secured, as collectors shall find it comfortable to simply store their NFTs in their wallets. What lacks is a social media platform, where this community could interact.
Here, our project “Allbum” offers numerous solutions. Interacting (e. g. comments, shares, likes) with NFTs and the proof of ownership – you will only be able to post an NFT on your feed if you own it in your wallet.
With some NFTs selling for millions of dollars, what exactly makes an NFT so valuable?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: One can see many different utility possibilities. NFT projects don’t only enable selling art, but also organizing events, building communities, and incorporating NFTs into the gaming industry. Nevertheless, there are projects, which are mainly prestige and are meant to build elite communities, which can organize special events like Yacht parties. (You know which one.)
Thank you for all of that. You mentioned that Allbum is a game-changer in the NFT world. Explain why.
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: Our project Allbum is meant to be all-in-one platform for NFTs. First of all, we are aiming to be the first social media platform for NFTs with profile for users and feed, where one can also interact with other NFT enthusiasts. Furthermore our platform will enable trading and even exchanging NFTs. Collections will be able to host special events (e. g. for the minting process) with ticket-system integration. Options are limitless.
How is all of this connected to the “Metaverse”?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: Users are investing into the NFT space, as they want to use NFT as an avatar to enter the Metaverse (virtual reality space, where people can interact with eachother). Investors are also buying virtual lands, where they want to build businesses on.
What future careers do you think will emerge in the “Metaverse” / Web 3.0?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: Estate agents could possibly sell virtual lands (such as Sandbox or MANA). Businesses will probably have a second version in the Metaverse and the gaming industry will grow even larger.
Tell us a bit more about your NFT project. Our readers love insights.
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: Every collector will be able to exhibit their NFTs in the Digital Album. The Album is a multiple-page showcase of NFTs, where only NFTs in the user’s own wallet(s) can be stored. Our NFT will be a unique design for the Digital Album, which will be customized by you, the users. On the Launch day, everyone who owns the PASS will get access to the customization hub and can design/customize the Digital Allbum, the way they imagined it.
Allbum is also great for collections, we let you create giveaways, airdrops, and even mint events, so you can stop worrying about BOTS, only collectors will join!
Nonetheless, we didn’t forget about collectors. We let them show their NFTs to the entire world in their own Digital Album, which can be customized just the way you like it! Because that is the whole point of this stuff, to show what you got and share it with the world!
How did you come up with the inspiration to get started?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: As kids, we loved collecting pictures of football players and showing them off in an album. There was a lot of chatter about those pictures. We would trade them or play games with them. So, a random idea came up about an NFT album, where people could collect their NFTs. In that situation, we started realizing problems current NFT platforms are dealing with so we decided to create Allbum, trying to find solutions to problems NFTs are dealing with.
To the detractors of NFTs that argue, traditional art is motivated by passion and skills whereas NFTs are powered by the monetary appeal, what would you say? Explain.
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: One cannot deny that some projects are powered by the monetary appeal, but these usually aren’t the most successful ones. On the other hand one can see many artists putting enormous work into creating collections that basically changed the world.
Most are still a bit confused about NFTs, how would you explain them to my grandma?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: If you go to a store, you receive a receipt, which proves that you are the owner of the items you have bought. With NFTs it’s just the same, these “digital images” are connected to a smart contract, which therefore cannot be forged or exploited.
Last but not least, are NFTs here to stay?
Mateo Jakelic & Kristijan Damjanov: NFTs are definitely going to be a big part of the future. Everything that we have in the real world could be a digital asset in the virtual world. It can cover a lot of ground. We imagine artists and games will be using NFTs the most, considering games kind of are a virtual reality.
