Could you tell us about your role as the Managing Director of Neptune Recyclers and how your organization is contributing to reducing waste entering landfills in Sri Lanka?
Abdullah Kassim: I am the Managing Director of the Organization, a Sri Lankan company that focuses on transforming waste into valuable resources through a circular economy approach. The company collects and recycles waste materials, such as paper, plastic, and fabrics, and processes them into new products that can be used in various industries

By recycling waste materials, the company is reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which helps to reduce environmental pollution and protect the natural resources of Sri Lanka
Can you share some examples of the impact that Neptune Recyclers has had on the circular economy and the value it has contributed to the industry over the years?
Abdullah Kassim: Of course, here are a few;
- Neptune Recyclers has been recognized for its innovative approach to waste management and circular economy by winning multiple awards, including the National Business Excellence Awards and the Presidential Export Awards
- Neptune Recyclers has helped to reduce the amount of waste entering landfills in Sri Lanka by recycling over 30,000 metric tons of waste materials annually. This has helped to reduce environmental pollution and protect the natural resources of Sri Lanka.
- The company has also created employment opportunities for the local community by providing employment opportunities directly and indirectly for over 400 people in its waste recycling initiatives. This has helped to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for Sri Lanka.
- Neptune Recyclers has partnered with local government authorities and other organizations to promote sustainable waste management practices in Sri Lanka. The company has also collaborated with international organizations to promote the circular economy and share its best practices with other countries.
